"Oceanview room was blocked by a building roof, and"
Don't call our room on 6th floor an oceanview. Should not be called an oceanview room. It was blocked by a roof and some ventilation equipment. It was insulting to pay for an oceanview and get such a crappy view. Room number was 606 or 609.
The location was great, right on the shore and a comfortable walk to Princeville Center for shopping and dinner options. The room had every amenity I wanted, including a full-sized fridge, washer&dryer, dishwasher and two-burner stove. The environment was pretty quiet and relaxing. I'd stay again, although I'd ask for a room on the second floor or higher to improve the view.
Traveller from San Jose, CA
This hotel is on the north shore of Kauai, 1 mile from the Princeville Beach and less than 8 miles from the Kilauea …More
I was a little apprehensive at first, the reviews seemed to be pretty mixed - some citing construction woes and others were glowing. From the photos, it looked like it was going to be amazing, and it definitely was.
- Staff: warm, welcoming, let us stay past checkout time to hang out at the pool (great perk)
- Room: had 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, a full kitchen, comfy bed, and was huge
- Amenities: great
- Pool/beach: our favorites on the island
- Price: VERY reasonable
If you're unsure about where to stay on Kauai, definitely make Hanalei Bay Resort one of your destinations. Not only is the resort wonderful, but Hanalei itself is gorgeous and there is much more to see/do in this area than Lihue. The Marriott in Lihue is where we stayed the next evening and it was twice as expensive with half the amenities and ridiculous additional charges (like $99 to stay a few extra hours after checkout).
Decent condo complex. Nothing special. Had a clean room with nice patio for outdoor eating, accessible grills for BBQing. Kitchen was equipped with just the main utensils we needed to cook. Smallish pool. Workout room was a disappointment. Staff was friendly and helpful.
It was a great place to stay! The grounds were very well kept, the condo was nice and very clean and the resort staff was outstanding! The staff could not have been nicer and more caring! They clearly went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay! The condo had been remodeled in 2013 and it had air conditioning. Very nice! We will definitely stay here again.
The location can't be beat. Cliffside, walkout units looking down to the ocean, turtles feeding, view of Hanalei Bay and north coast, sunsets, etc. Quiet, birds, paved path to private beach hard to find in this area. Beach, a mix of volcanic black rock and sand, is actually nicer than the St Regis one, which is public. Very good restaurant on site.
Had one of the most relaxing times. Perfect location to get away from the fast paced life.
Beautiful setting!! No traffic or congestion like on the Southshore. Enjoyed eating with the locals at Tahiti Nue and loved the tapas at BarAcuda Restaurant (both in Hanalei).
"Time share property but no pressure to become part"
Considering the price we got a very nice unit that was like an apartment. Staff was very nice, guests were quiet, mostly. The pools were nice, the grounds were beautiful. The building was a little aged but well taken care of. Location was great.
