"Good place to break journey South-East to Scotland"
All good Breakfast a bit disappointing but we were late down so ... (Evening meal was excellent and that raised our hopes for an equally spectacular breakfast) Overall, a very good place to spend the night.

"Good comfortable hotel. "
Good hotel, have stayed before. Everything OK but the restaurant and bar menus were a bit brief, not much choice, and the breakfast cooked selection was poor. The wi-fi was expensive (having just stayed in two good hotels where it was free) at £8 per day or £20 per 3 days. I arrived on the Saturday evening at about 5pm and signed in. I chose the three day option as I was staying until the Monday. As soon as I had checked out at 10am Monday the connection was chopped! Effectively I paid £20 for 41 hours use...not good. Would I recommend the hotel? Yes, but with reservations (see above).

Pocket Guide: Preston, Lancashire Romantic Hotels

Once a thriving mill town, Preston has felt the pinch of de-industrialization like much of the northeast. The city is peppered with beautiful old buildings including the Harris Museum and St John's Minster. The River Ribble runs through the south of the city, where the old docks are undergoing regeneration. A little further up the Ribble is Brockholes: a nature reserve with bird-watching hides.
