“Great hotel in good location.”

This was a great hotel very close to Wenceslas Square (1 min walk via covered walkway at back of hotel). We stayed here for a long weekend to see Prague and Christmas markets, and all of the main attractions were within easy walking distance of this hotel. Would definitely stay here again. I stay in a lot of hotels for business purposes so have experienced the whole range of service. I found the Yasmin hotel staff to very helpful, with check-in staff friendly and efficient. All staff we met spoke good English and were happy to answer questions. The room was comfortable and generally quiet, even though the hotel appeared fairly busy. We had a room facing over the inner courtyard, which I would recommend requesting if you like peace and quiet away from the main road. My only issue with noise in the room came from the fact that we had a room located directly above the kitchens. Banging of pots and pans finished at 11pm and restarted for breakfast at 6am. We were generally up early, so this didn't bother us too much, but if you like a lie-in I would recocmmend getting a room on the 2nd floor or above (floor 3 of the hotel). The hotel restaurant was very good for both breakfast and dinner when we ate there. The hotel is also only a 5 min walk from the main train station which is the pick-up/drop off point for the airport shuttle service. I would recommend using this as we found it to be cheap and reliable, with the drivers again speaking good English.

When to go
The city looks very pretty at Christmas time (we went on the last weekend of November) and the Christmas markets (there are several) are great.
Getting there
We found the Airport Express coach from the airport to the main train station to be very efficient and good value. Good for hotels in Wenceslas Square area.
Getting around
All of the main attractions are within walking distance if you stay in the central areas. Take a good pair of shoes as there are lots of cobbles.
What to pack
If you are travelling in winter or for Christmas markets pack warm clothes and thick gloves - it was freezing!

“Modern and comfortable - excellent location”

Really impressive lobby area - very modern decor, looked new and clean. Rooms were comfortable and continuation of modern theme. A couple of minor points - no tea or coffee making facilities in room - really missed this. Also no extra pillows -which I am sure we could of asked for but never got round to it. Stayed 3 nights found the hotel to be in an excellent location close to all attractions, old town and Wencelas Square. Breakfast was included and was quite good. Seemed to be popular with business visitors as well - very quiet when we stayed

“Not that impressed”

Great location and breakfast. The hotel staff could use a bit of training in customer service. The car service arrived an hour late to pick me up from the airport and the stay seemed doomed from there. Booked a non-smoking room that reeked of smoke the entire time that I was there. If you want to be near good shopping and the metro, stay here. Otherwise, opt for other nearby choices.

“Stylish, well-situated Hotel with friendly service”

We found the Yasmin hotel to be a very stylish modern hotel conveniently situated in a quiet area in the block behind Wencelas square. This left us with a pleasant fifteen minute walk to the Old town square. Service in reception and the dining room was friendly and helpful and everyone, as elsewhere in Prague, spoke good English. Great attention had obviously been paid to both the look and the function of this refurbished building to ensure the comfort and security of guests. We found our room to be clean, neat and uncluttered, with good lighting and unobtrusive and efficient air-conditioning and heating. The bathroom was very modern and well-appointed. The design of the buffet restaurant was much more self-consciously artistic. While the modernist art touches were certainly eye-catching we found the mirror and reflective surfaces a little disorientating as we wandered our way round the buffet. The breakfast buffet was very wide ranging serving both hot and food dishes and catering for the international market. Service was efficient: Tables were rapidly cleared and cleaned. We found the menu of the Noodles bar rather limited and preferred to eat in one of the restaurants nearby serving more characteristic Czech food. The hotel is generally very well maintained. Broken light bulbs in the corridor outside our room were rapidly replaced after we notified reception, but this matter had not been routinely picked up by their own staff.

Area recommendations
Prague is the most beautiful European city we have visited, packed with beautiful buildings both ancient and more modern and other major tourist sites across all its four major quarters. We wouldn't want to recommend any one area more than another.
Getting there
Travelling into and out of the centre of Prague by pre-booked airport shuttle was an efficient, reliable and trouble-free experience that is thoroughly recommended. It represented very good value for money. Drivers were welcoming and spoke excellent English like everyone else we met during our four day stay.
Getting around
What a friendly and safe city! Even in October the place was still bustling with tourism and walking tours. While most of the central sights can be managed conveniently on foot, we were impressed by the integrated public transport system for getting slightly further afield. The 24 hour runabout tickets can be used on trams, tubes and the funicular railway and was very cheap in comparison to the UK. We found this very useful to get up the hills to the castle and to the Petrin tower. Tickets are sold at newspaper stalls near to the stations or tram stops..
What to pack
Travelling in October we found Prague colder than the UK and we were glad to have packed the extra warm clothes, including gloves and scarves.
Dining
We generally eat close to Wencelas Square and the Astronomical clock to fully absorb the character of this very beautiful and busy city. A wide range of dishes and drinks were available and many restaurants had helpful illustrated menus and prices outside to help you decide where to go and eat. Even in these prime locations it was possible to find food and drink that matched our budget, although the price of eating out was generally higher than in the UK.

“City centre hotel actually in the city centre”

Cannot find fault with this hotel. Ideal location just one block back from Wenceslas Square (more a wide street than a square!). Although centrally located it was still quiet. Exemplary service. Breakfast to suit all tastes, nationalities, and appetites from fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants, pastries to scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon.

“Prague's Little Gem”

Hotel Yasmin was one of the best bits about our trip to Prague. The hotel was modern, clean, beautifully decorated - we loved the clever trees hanging in the hall - and exactly how it appeared in all the pictures we had seen. The staff were friendly and very professional. I had the use of a guests computer to print out my flight itinerary that had changed, all for no extra charge. The rooms were comfy and clean with all the little extras like a bathrobe and slippers. Minibar was massively expensive, but this was to be expected. The breakfast had to be our favourite part of the stay. There was so much to choose from - full English breakfast, cereals, pastries, cakes, toast and jams, fresh fruit, breads and cold meats (traditionally Czech, love it!) and every different kind of tea that you can think of. All in a eat as much as you like buffet style in their restaurant 'Noodles'. They had even built a gingerbread house, but only for decoration! We ate in 'Noodles' one evening, and the food wasn't great - there was some odd noodle combinations... But it wasn't awful (especially compared to the Czech dumplings we had tried the evening before in a restaurant...!) A great location too, very near Wenceslas Square so it was perfect for the Christmas markets which had a live event every evening - the school choir was particularly wonderful. Also very good value for money. It's difficult to find anything to fault this hotel on...!

Area recommendations
The Old Town was just great, with some beautiful old buildings and churchs. Take a guide book with you though - its difficult to find places that don't rip tourists off unless you have one. We found a fabulous wine bar down Vodickova thanks to the guide book that was only 58 krona for two glasses of wine (about £1 each). Beer's in restaurants were very pricey - about £6 for half a litre. But very good tasting.
Shopping
Shopping is difficult in Prague - its either crystal shops or your everyday high street stores that you get anywhere. Its very hard to find unusual presents - even the Christmas markets were full of mass produced goods and nothing particularly lovely. We found a proper marionette shop down Tyn, in the Old Town - there are too expense for tourists to buy - some are 20,000 krona each - which is precisely why you have to take a look. Its a little like a museum, there are some wonderful handmade puppets there, all hand carved and painted. Next door to this shop is an apothacary with hand made soaps and bath bombs. They make great gifts, and the place smells amazing! Pariska is worth a walk down - if only to swoon over the designer clobber that you can't afford. Celetna is also a good street to walk down for shops - and the Chocolate Museum is down there too. The Palladium (Namesti Republicky) is where the big mall is for your clothes shopping if you want to do that..

“Great Hotel with valued price taq”

This hotel is located right at the centre close to Muzeum which is super convenience for travel around Prague by Tram or Metro. We stayed at Superior Twin Room, the room is newly decor but quality similar to IBIS, very simple. Room comes with Internet Cable for free internet access but no wifi in the room. Breakfast was included with good selection. PS. This hotel doesn't supply iron and iron board for you to do ironing yourself. they only provide charged service.

Traveller's tip
Around 15 mins walk from center, there is a great food court at the top floor of a Shopping Mall - Palladium. They serve good food in value price if you are bored of having traditional Czech Meal.
