“fantastic hotel”
The hotel was exactly as described. It is in the old town and very near to all the attractions. It is very old fashioned but the rooms were very clean and tidy. We would definately recommend the hotel and would not hesitate to return.
“Good hotel, quiet location.”
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was in the quiet part of Prague by the Senate and Parliament. The rooms were nice and comfortable, their breakfast had a nice selection of food.
“More like a 2 star”
Definately has its perks..great location, good breakfast but, its a 2 star at best. Had a dispenser for bath wash, the furniture is old, the heater wouldn't heat the room, and the wifi is just in the lobby that can fit at best 5 guests at a blazing fast 1.5Mbps you may load a site in about 10 mins. The hotel is more of a semi apartment complex with some rooms being used as hotel rooms. Would I stay at this hotel again..yes if it was advertised properly as a 2 star I found the location to be very good right below the castle and the breakfast was very good as well....However I could have probably found a better 4 star for a bit more that would have been way better.
“Quaint Hotel in Great Location”
Quaint little hotel, excellently situated at the base of Prague Castle - a short 10 minute walk to the biggest attraction in Prague, and only 10 minute walk from the Metro. Very good breakfast. It's a bit hidden - not the big hotel Waldenstein that you can see from the square, but tucked in a corner to its left. Beds are a little small - and don't be surprised to see religious icons hanging on the walls. Shower was a little tricky - couldn't quite get the right angle for the spray, and the nozzle wouldn't always stay put.
“Dated and a bit creepy, but clean enough and unique.”
The free Wifi did not work well in our living quarters. We had to sit near the lobby in order to get a good enough network signal. Our living quarters were dark, and the furniture in it was quite dated. We had a hard time figuring out how to turn on the heater, and were quite cold at night for the first couple of nights. We were able to call for help with it. I can imagine the place is cozier in the summer.
“Great price / quality relation”
The hotel is perfectly located. Tram stop within 3 minutes walk. The staff is polite. The room was antique, and very clean, and the sorroundings very nice. I´d definitely return to this hotel if I come back to Prague.
“Not what I expected”
Before booking, I read through all of the reviews, which were nearly 50/50 for good and poor. I was drawn in by the charming pictures of the hotel, thinking that this would be a unique and romantic experience for me and my girlfriend. I went ahead and booked the Waldstein, ignoring all of the bad reviews. Big mistake. The Waldstein was nothing like I expected it to be or what the pictures/hotel description lead me to believe. The room we received was musky and dirty. The rug and comforter were full of dust. The interior walls had portions of unpainted plywood. The stand-up shower had only 2 minutes of hot water (not an exageration). I had read that the decor was old-fasioned, which I'm okay with; but this stuff was falling apart. Some of the units were actually permanent residences for people, which I thought was a bit unusual. The only positive things I have to say about the Waldstein would be the location and the included breakfast. Do yourself a favor, and keep looking for a different hotel.
“Convenient, but don't believe the 4 stars!”
Great location, excellent breakfast, but one of the strangest hotels we have stayed in. Four stars it definitely isn't. Our rooms were located away from the hotel entrance and opened onto a courtyard shared with local apartments. One room had a very poor shower, only loosely attached to the wall. Both our rooms had en suite kitchens, which we did not expect. Simple maintenance was difficult to obtain. Our non functioning TV took 3 days to be replaced, one sink never acquired a plug, in one bathroom it was impossible to use the sink to shave as it was miniscule and had no hot water (by design not due to a fault!). The heating in one of our two rooms was not working on arrival when temperatures were around 0 degrees C! Having said that, the hotel was in a great location, was very quiet, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
“Great hotel, Great location”
Make sure you get a room in the older part of the hotel, not the annexe next door. Really pleased with all aspects of the Waldstein and staying in the Mala Strana area of Prague was perfectly situated to see the sites.
“Wedding anniversary”
We took a taxi provided by AutoCars from the airport. The driver pointed out places of interest as we travelled. The reception at the hotel were ready with our key and spoke perfect english. The room was on the ground floor and opened off a small courtyard. The breakfast was excellent, varied choice and plentiful. Everywhere we went we were met with smiles and helpful information. The city was so festive and the Xmas market was wonderful. We enjoyed good food and lovely atmospheres in all the restaurants and bars. What a great city for a celebration. The taxi back to the airport took us a different route to see the castle as we hadn't had time to get there on foot. Superb.
