“Great hotel”
The hotel was very clean, big rooms, good restaurant, and the staff was very friendly. The location was great right down town and walking distance from everything. I highly recommended this hotel.
“prague hotel to stay away from”
The location was fabulous. The room was huge with leftover furnishings from the communist era. The heat was unbearable and could not be turned off. Opening the windows left us with the singing of drunks partying till 5 am. Washcloths do not exist. Breakfast was one step above The Hampton Inn (which is not a complement) Find another place to stay if you are visiting Prague.
“Only have a suite”
The deluxe rooms have a door into adjoining suite, you can hear your neighbours, this should be explained on the hotel and also on the Expedia web site. Asked for quiet room, not only did we have door into adjoining suite but outdoor hotel cafe outside our window, with music playing all day and evening. Breakfast room was poor, staff not attentive, furniture more suitable for a fast food outlet. This hotel is 3 star not five star.
“Location, Location, Location”
The individual members of staff are genuinely pleasant and some exceptionally so. Every request was dealt with efficiently and effectively, so just ask if anything needs doing. As a tourist I found the location to be second to none. The one evening meal I had in the hotel's restaurant was excellently cooked and presented. Breakfast was fine but if a five star leisurely breakfast with loads of choices is important to help you start the day then this is not the hotel for you. If you want to get fueled up and on your way to make the most of the day then breakfast efficiently and effectively does the job quite pleasantly.
“Great hotel”
The location is perfect, just minutes to the old town square. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lot of character and our room (a suite) was very spacious). It was quite noisy at night though (sound reverberates off all the stone in the narrow streets) with drunk people going by at early hours and garbage pickup at 5am. We would stay there again but would request an inside room overlooking the courtyard.
“Pass it up”
I have to say this was by far the most disappointing hotel stay ever. I think we had the worst room of this hotel. Five stars doesn't even come close to the rating this hotel should have. While our room was very large and the hotel staff was helpful with other needs, the overall stay was not enjoyable. Our room was situated right off the bar, loud music was played all day and promptly at 7am all you heard was the dragging of chairs for the breakfast buffet (which was marginal to say the least). The bed was hard as a rock, forget about a decent shower, no real hot water, no security lock on the door, the list goes on. We asked to change rooms, but were shown two rooms with twin beds and equally disappointing. Seriously folks pass this one up if you want a relaxing enjoyable stay. Expedia should remove their recommendation of this hotel.
“Great Location but Overpriced”
The Iron Gate Hotel is centrally located in Prague's Old Town; it's in walking distance to most of the city's attractions. The staff is great- accommodating and helpful. The only drawback is price. We booked a "deluxe suite" that slept 4. The hotel charged pretty high fees per person over double occupancy, (x2 people = more than $125 over the advertised Expedia rate). To boot, the "suite" slept 2 people in a modestly-sized bedroom w/ twin beds + 2 people on less-than-comfortable, fold-out couches in the very small "living room." We felt the price was steep considering we didn't have 4 real beds and that the fold-out sofas made for cramped conditions. Breakfast is included and was fine- nothing to write home about. Wi-fi available in lobby and lounge areas, not in rooms. By comparison, we stayed elsewhere in Prague on another night with the same group of 4 people; for a few extra bucks, we also had a great location, MUCH more space, 2 bathrooms, a fabulous breakfast, and in-room wi-fi.
“Cant wait to go back”
Gorgeous room (royal suite), lovely breakfast, perfect location, the only negative was that the air-con in the room did not work so well and had to sweat out most nights. The positives outweigh the negatives by far.
“Old Town Prague”
Great gem in centre of Old Town, Prague. Very clean, great service from front desk, and they provide driver from airport for about 40 euro. Great buffet breakfast in am. No elevator, but heh it's Europe.
“iron gate was great place”
close to main square. suites were very big rooms. staff was knowledgeable and friendly. free breakfast was very handy.
