“Business in Prague”

I was very happy with the Movenpick Hotel in Prague. It suited me because it was only 4 stops on a tram to the convention I was attending. It was very clean and of high quality. It is not the most convenient location if one is on vacation since the Old Town area is some distance away. However for my purpose it was excellent.

“The standard rooms are average, although a bit more room than many European hotels.”

We were with a tour group, the hotel oversold for our dates, then gave us all upgrades to suites. Those rooms were excellent, but the wait for a twelve person tram to get everyone in the upper building to/from the lower lobby got old quickly. I had booked a standard for an extra day (the tour was supposed to go into standard rooms) and Movenpick insisted we move ourselves out of the upgrade and down to a standard - not how we wanted to spend our extra day in Prague. The manager hid out from us until it was impossible for her to avoid us. We wouldn't go back, but think it is an "OK" hotel.

Area recommendations
The lower castle side of the Vlata (Moldau) River would be accessible to the castle and walking distance across the river from the city center. Also close to city park walks and the trolley system. A little longer walk to the Metro.
When to go
Early autumn was an excellent time. We were incredibly lucky to have very warm days (80s and 90s) on the lower Danube after September 14 with one day of moderate rain.Temperatures were in the upper 70s and 80s in the first week of October in Budapest, Vienna and Prague, with clouds and cooler weather for us when we left 10/7.

“Very good experience with this chain.”

The hotel is very nice, good food and service. It is a little bit away from old town but it´s worth it.

Area recommendations
If you want to visit Prague is better to stay either in the old city or the castle area

“Good hotel”

All are very good. Only the front desk gentleman gave me 20 czech korunas for each Euro that was far lower than the rate at the day.

“Not really impressed..”

I have not received any of my messages at the reception, My friend called me in the hotel and he has been told that there is no guest with my name in the hotel. For the rest ok.. reception could be better organized.. Location ok.. Rooms ok.. Price quality ok..

“" More than I expected"”

Stayed there for a week and it was Amazing! Everytime we go back in our Hotel room it was clean and bathroom stuff were organized. Staff are helpful and friendly esp the Concierge that gave us all information how to get to Main City and what tram to take, they can even tell you the stops of the train/tram.(only 5mins walking to tram station) And most especially the Breathtaking View we witnessed everyday when we ride in the Cable Car going up to the Executive Bldg.. Thanks Movenpick for making our stay Fantastic! More Power

“A faultless experience”

Good welcome, room available before stipulated time, very helpful front desk dispensing accurate advice, easy transport (trams, Metro or walk) to city centre, very good buffet breakfast - excellent value all round. Room and bed were good size and comortable; good soundproofing. Only possible improvement would be a better reading light (although I've stayed in many, more expensive hotels with far worse room lighting).

“Best breakfast ever”

This is a great hotel. Our rooms were on the 8th floor, executive level and were absolutely huge. The breakfast buffet was superb, probably the best I have ever seen. The surrounding area was OK, a bit noisy next to the road but perfectly safe. The traditional Czech restaurant just past the bus parking area was marvellous and not as expensive as the tourist trap ones in town. Try the "hogkilling with headcheese" starter- I chickened out and am dying to know what it is! Buy lots of 18Cz tram tickets at the metro station along the road (Andell), they are hard to get and the ticket offices are closed at the weekend. Just validate them when you use them. Daily tickets are too dear, you don't use the tram that much.

Area recommendations
The Old Town, of course, the Charles Bridge and the lovely area at the end of the bridge. Really it is all so pretty. Advertised concerts are nice but they are quite short - only about an hour - and cost about £16. The real deal concerts and opera are fantastic, tickets about £20 - £40, buy on the internet before you go. If you are up for it, take a bike tour with Premiant Tours - £22 for at least two hours and just great fun and very informative, the kind of interesting and funny detail you just don't get on the official bus tours. The Veletrzni Palac (The Trade Fair Palace) is well worth the number 17 tram ride if you are interested in art from the late 19th century to the present - lots of brilliant Czech art and loads of Picasso in an amazing building. It looks kind of boring outside but wows you on the inside. Cross the road and walk up a wee bit to a smashing New York style bar/diner place, the food is very good.

“I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Prague. I'll stay there again for sure!”

The hotel was beautiful and the entire staff was helpful, friendly, and very good at everything. I cannot think of a single thing that I did not like. It was only a 15-20 minute walk to anywhere.

Area recommendations
Charles Bridge, Old Town, and the Prague Castle, the regular 'must-see' tourist spots. Lots to see there, and some very good places to eat.
