Overnight in Prague at the Lindner Posted 16-Jun-2014
We only spent one night in Prague on our way out from Brno. Everything was great apart from the air conditioning. We didn't have much time and went to see the castle before nightfall. It was approx. 30 degrees through the day, and the air conditioning hadn't been working properly before we left. We forgot to report it before we left, but did so immediately on our return. Apparently the windows have a sensor, if the a/c is on and you open the window.... the a/c automatically goes off. Well it's kind of normal when getting to your room to open the window if the a/c isn't being effective. After waiting over an hour, the a/c was still not effective. We reported it to reception, who immediately gave us another room to sleep in. After an hour, the a/c in that room was also ineffective. I went back to the original room at about 3 am in the morning, because I couldn't sleep in the heat, opened the window in the original room (which wouldn't open very wide because of "safety precautions"!!!) and found it to be much more effective that the "a/c" in the new room. Sadly, I believe all of the air conditioning in the rooms may be in need of re-gasing, but in the lobby and the passages, the a/c worked adequately. Great hotel outside of summer though, good location for the castle.
