Good hotel and staff, but maintenance needed
The hotel is in a pleasant, quiet area. Convenient tram stop 10 minutes away, only a few stops to the castle or the old centre. The hotel provides a tram map and advice as to which trams to take and where to get off. Staff is generally very nice and helpful. Negatives: TV did not work and the bathroom had a persistent odour of sewerage.

Pros : We got apartment 1 and it was massive. Lovely and spacious No kettle in room Close to tram and cost only 1 eur to city centre We checked in late on Saturday and the reception could not be more helpful. Very nice welcome. Good breakfast. Lovely view of the place at night. Perfect apartment for family with kids. Cons: It if was winter time I would have given 5 stars .. It was over 30 degrees and there was no air con in the room.Extremely hot. Overall stay very pleasant

Great hotel but a good walk to the centre
Was easy to find by car and had decent parking which is what I was after. Easy check in and friendly receptionist, clean spacious room with good ensuite. Useful fridge/minibar in room and a safe. Good selection of buffet breakfast. Close to bus and tram, 9 , so overall a pleasant relaxing stay

Not bad, but could be better
The hotel is locates in a quiet place close to a tram station. The hotel amenities are in a good condition. The bathroom is huge, and it�s almost as big as the room. But I was a little bit disappointed with the breakfast. They obviously dilute juices with water, because I�ve never before tasted such tasteless juices. One day the pie was half-baked.

Great hotel. Wi-Fi needs fixing.
Good hotel. Very central, we had a car and it was only a short drive into Old Town. The only negative is the free Wi-Fi. Not sure what other rooms were like but we had absolutely no signal in our room. We had to go stand in the lobby to use it. Even the signal in the breakfast area next to the lobby had a very low, unusable signal.

Epic stay in the suburbs of prague
Fantastic hotel, great service, very welcoming! Literally only few negative comments would be that the tv was an old CRT screen and the shower temperature was a little erratic in our room but there are no real complaints about this hotel, it's awesome!

Almost there...Should give it a try
Located far (about 7 km) from Prague 1, some might find it unappealing. But this hotel has a few strengths that compensate - 1. It's not as far as it appears - it is located just 2 Tram (very popular means of transportation in Prague. Consider buying the 1 day or 3 day tickets, as public transportation in Prague is effective) stations from a central station called Andel, where they have a new mall, a shopping center and an underground train. The area is a quiet, green hillside neighborhood. The closest tram is about 7 minutes away. 2. The breakfast was delicious - Ham, eggs, salads, cheese, Ghoulash - we were full after each breakfast, that we could wait with the lunch up until 1300-1400. 3. The staff - the reception team we met included 4 helpful, good looking ladies who, despite Okayish English, were helpful with anything we asked. 4. The hotel looks renovated - clean soft lines, gave it a warmish European feeling (that's how I felt). Everything (but the lobby's WC) was always clean. We had a few problems - 1. The water in the shower :the flow was not strong, the temperature change from freezing to boiling and vice-versa without touching the dial. Not a nice experience. 2. The TV was very small and old. So, I think that relatively to the price, this hotel can give you a good experience. Some small changes can be made to make it better.

Good hotel in its price segment
Great hotel for a good price considering that the price includes breakfast, Internet, and parking. Usually hotels in Prague for such value are old, smelly rooms, and not client oriented stuff. This hotel, however, is very fresh, modern, and has really client-oriented service. Building is modern, rooms are clean, stuff is friendly and English-speaking. The only problem I had is that I booked the room with 1 king bed, but received 2 single beds instead, - they told that they received reservation for 2 single beds, and unfortunately, had no free rooms with 1 king bed, - ok it happens, - really do not know who made a mistake :)

A small friendly hotel that was a five minute walk to the tram services taking you into the city. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large and very comfortable. The hotel looked new and modern. Breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold choices. The surrounding area was suburban with lots of autumnual trees. There is nothing really within walking distance but the trams were very frequent into the city or to take you to the airport (along with a bus). Restaurants were just a short tram journey away.

Good hotel but quite far from city centre
We had a nice stay at the Popelka, although we did struggle to find it at first. Its 20 mins by tram (no.9) from Praha central station, so its a bit of a hike to the sights. Its not far from the tram stop though and trams are frequent so once you know where you're going its fine. The hotel staff were very helpful and they go out of the way for you. Good breakfast.

i often travel with some friends of mine. most of the time we use one room for 3 people. i never had such a small room, which obviously was made for 2 people. this hotel would rather say that they haven't got any rooms for 3 people. with the 3th bed in the room, it was nearly impossible to walk and this bed was really uncomfortable. all other criteria were okay for a 4star hotel in prague. its not the same as for star in germany or the usa, but its okay. small breakfast, clean rooms, wireless inet for free really convienient location if you have found the hotel once. best is to use the tram number 9 to U ZVONU or go by taxi, which is quite cheap there.

3 people may be asked for extra money
I went with my parents. Hotel.com make a price for three people, however, when I check in, they ask me to pay extra money for the extra bed. But in the confirmation letter, every thing is clear. We argue for a long time, and end up with paying no extra money. It is a very nice hotel, but this issue really make me upset. I hope it will not happen any more!!

This is a small, but very well run hotel. Staff are very helpful. Rooms are lovely. Breakfast is good and included. Location is good. It's about a minute walk to the tram, and 2 tram stop to the Andel metro station. In all it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get into the center. There is a big shopping mall and lots of other shops near Andel. The front desk sells a variety of metro passes.

Quiet hotel with helpful staff
My husband and I had a great stay at Hotel Popelka. The staff were incredibly helpful and helped us to book a few tours and taxis. The breakfast in the morning was great to wake up to. I thought it was going to be a typical continental breakfast but to my surprise they included eggs, bacon, a selection of yogurts, fruit, cereals and breads. The hotel is a bit out of the way so if you're looking to be in the middle of the action then you might be disappointed but if you like to retreat from the tourists at the end of the day, we thought it was great value for your money.

I don't normally review hotels but Hotel Popelka deserves a good, objective one in English. Plenty of good reviews in German. My wife and I spent 7 days at Hotel Popelka and we found the hotel to be very clean - many of the reviews in German state this. Our room was a nice size (by European hotel standards) and my only recommendation is to bring an alarm clock as there were no clocks in the rooms. It is a bit off the "tourist" path (super easy 10 minute train ride into the tourist areas) but don't think that it is in some hidden corner of the city: NATO is next door and a Lexus dealership is a stone's throw away. The breakfast (included in the price) was another big plus and was what I would consider a "continental breakfast plus" (eggs, ham and sausage besides the standard bread, cereal, juices, etc.). We did not try the hotel restaurant but found a few neighborhood restaurants that were quite good and well priced (2 full meals with a drink & tip for the price of one sit down meal in the US). The friendly Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful in pointing out city landmarks, train routes, etc. They even gave us a map. The final major requirement for me (because of my job) was internet access - which was included in the price. Bring an Ethernet cord as the lobby is the only place with wireless. It was great to be able to use Skype Out to call family back in the US for free. Overall it was comparable to a Holiday Inn Express in the US.

The Popelka is new, clean, comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a five minute walk to the nearest tram stop whcih takes you into the Old Town or you can hop off and transfer to the Metro. Both systems were easy to use. Definitely would go back there

The hotel is new and very clean and presentable and the staff are very friendly. However it is quite a long way out of town and it is in a pretty run-down area. There are no facilities in the hotel for a meal and there is nothing in the local area so you have to walk to the tram and go back to the city centre. The good news is that there are plenty of good places to eat at Andel which is just 2 stops on the tram and where the nearest metro station is. 3 of them are in the guidebook. There are no facilities in the room for making a hot drink.

On my previous trips to Prague, I took a train in and stayed in the old town center. This time I had a car, but still wanted the old town accessible. Hotel Popelka has a fairly secure parking lot and is only a short walk to the tram that goes into the old town. We booked 2 rooms with king sized beds, but when we checked in they only had one king room and one room with 2 single beds available. However, they were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was pretty good.

Best hotel for the money on our 3 week trip --big free breakfast included. Location is so-so but if you don't mind a 5 stop tram ride and 8 minute walk to center of Prague it's a great, modern hotel. If you're driving it's really good with secure, free parking.

I think other reviews are a little too complimentary. It is modern, clean and comfortable,with an inexpensive mini-bar and a good breakfast. The hotel is outside the centre and very accessible by tram, but not too far from a very noisy road. Some of the staff need a rebate from charm school and the satellite television was a joke - just Eurosport. Not too far from the airport but quite complicated by public transport - taxis cost around 15-20 GBP,so ignore some of the ridiculously out-of date prices quoted in the guide books - we thought it was worth the fare.
