“Best location - on the Old Town Square”
Generally very pleased, location exceptional and price reasonable. Breakfasts were pretty good though main meal I had was fairly grim.
“Great Location”
The hotel is in a great location. Very walkable to many things. The rooms - especially the bathrooms could use some updating. But they are clean and well kept. The restaurant was very good. We ate dinner there twice. We also had breakfast there which was included in the room price. The hotel staff didn't say much - maybe the language was a problem. I would recommend this hotel especially for the location.
“Perfect Location”
Great location....this was my 2nd stay at this hotel. Very nice staff. We had to check out for the airport before breakfast was served so they packed us quite a large breakfast to go.
“Unfriendly Staff! Rude! Great Location! Quaint Room.”
The females at the reception desk were very unfriendly. Didn't smile at all. Acted as if you, the guest, was a pain in the neck. The room was very authentic and the painted ceilings is so beautiful, Couldn't ask for a better location. Beds were extremely hard. Breakfast and service is horrible. Don't plan on eating it - plan to go to a cafe and buy pastry.
“Noisy, dirty, with a hard bed.”
Room was spacious, yet filthy (stains and cigarette burns on the comforter (oddly, this is a non-smoking room). The bed itself was hard as a rock and if that wasn't heard enough to fall asleep on, the prime location of this hotel on the square combined with thin windows meant every drunk on the square could be heard. The hotel stay was so bad that we left after the first night, and even without a refund, I shelled out money for a nicer hotel - the Hotel Josef, which was the best hotel experience I ever had. In short, don't think a four star hotel in Prague at these rates don't come with the expense of extreme discomfort.
“Best location in Prague”
Location is fabulous, right next door to St Nicholas Church in Old Town Sq. Just tell taxis you want to go to St. Nicholas' in Old Town (there are 2 of them in Prague). St. Nicks had concerts in the evenings which you could purchase tickets to. Reception was friendly and helpful--even prepared a breakfast to go when we left at 5:00 am. Rooms were spacious and not noisy (maybe in the Summer it may be different). Good breakfast included. You carry up your own luggage--elevator but also some stairs. Free internet computer available in the lobby. Bathrooms updated with shower. Hallways have motion detector lights which seems to be the new thing in European hotels now. Would definitely stay there again.
“Best Location in Prague”
This hotel is right in the middle of all the action. Because it's right on Old Town Square, it could be a bit noisy if the windows were open. We didn't mind this, however, as we liked being right in the middle of everything! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable - I inquired about where the nearest pharmacy was, and they pulled out a map and marked down the locations of the nearest ones for us. The breakfasts were good, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and again, the location can't be beat. If I return to Prague, I won't hesitate to stay here again!
“Cerna Liska: Great location”
If you want a great location, reasonable price and good breakfast, this is the place! The rooms are plain, no luxury items or fancy frou-frou. But they are comfortable and clean. Quality of service depends on who's at the front desk, overall a great staff, but one lady has a real negative attitude towards providing customer service, we've stayed there last year too and she was just as grumpy last year as this year. Ignore her and carry on! The rest of the staff is great.
“not impressed with reception staff”
Having stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and been very impressed with it , we were eager to stay there again when we made a return visit to Prague. The hotel is in a superb location, and this year our room had a wonderful view on to the Old Town Square. Our room was as before well appointed but the heating in the room and the towel rail were not working and as the temperatures had dropped and it was cold outside we reported this to reception. They were very surly and unhelpful and said there was a problem with the boiler. At least we had hot water in the room ,but on the second morning that too had vanished and we had to have cold showers. When we reported this to reception the two ladies in reception were rude, defensive and basically said other people in other rooms had taken showers and that was the reason that there was no hot water for us! We were amazed at the attitude of the reception staff who didn't apologise for our inconvenience, and who were unsmiling, hostile and unhelpful to a genuine complaint which we told them about in a civilised way. The heating and the hot water problem was probably due to a boiler not working properly, but surly rude staff who go on the defensive when you report a problem is not acceptable. We will therefore not be staying at this hotel again. This is a great shame as the hotel is in a beautiful location and our room was nice and clean and the food was good.
“great location!”
The hotel is in a great location-right on Old Time Square. It is clean and comfortable though basic. The breakfast is a plus - a great selection of everything you might want.
