“Will definitely return!”

We loved this hotel and its position. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was varied and very good, as was the food in the hotel restaurant. We found the rooms a little too warm and needed to keep the windows open and as we were next to the 'Clarion' flag outside, on a windy day the the metal cable clanged against the pole and was quite noisy. Overall, everything was great and we will book this hotel on our next visit. :-)

Area recommendations

We particularly liked the old town square area, Charles bridge, St. Nicholas's church and the cathedral, although everywhere in the city was lovely. We enjoyed the old world feel about it and the christmas lights in old town square made it like fairyland! The buildings were amazing, some very ornate - modern box-type buildings just can't compete. Wonderful.

Very little as you will want to buy lots of things. (I bought four puppets) Warm footwear and clothes are essential.

“GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY”

Simple hotel,comfortable room ,with lots of heat for a cold winters day or night. Substantial buffet breakfast to suit all nationalities Staff appeared cool and distant . Within easy walking distance of old town and places to eat.

Would reccommend the Old City for its buildings and well preserved character

Getting there

Use one of the shared taxi companies to and from the airport . They can be pre arranged on the internet.they make up their numbers 6-8 persons and it is much cheaper than a taxi.

What to pack

Take comfortable shoes as there are many cobbled streets.

“clarion --- not bad but beds are hard”

Booked the clarion old town because of its location --- being both in old town and close to where our daughter was living as a student. This is a no thrills hotel --- room was clean and service was good. Nice buffet breakfast included or a contienntal breakfast brought to the room for a nominal charge. Staff was very accomodating but there was one big problem -- the beds were harder than any beds that we ever slept on --- and I travel fequently. A lot of my nights were spent tossing and turning and days spent with a back ache.

Prague is beautiful --- everywhere Great food and beer --- inexpensive, unpretencious

“Never go there again”

The hotel staff are absolutely awful! They were rude and unfriendly and at the end of the trip, we asked them to call a taxi to the airport using the number on the discount card we had received from our taxi on the way in to Prague. The receptionist, Petra, insisted that we could only use the discount card if we had called 24 hours in advance. We called the taxi company ourselves and they said this wasn't true, that we just had to hand it to the driver before the journey. Not sure why she was dishonest. The receptionist and the luggage carrier eat their lunch at the desk and insist they will not serve you while they are eating. Avoid this hotel at all costs

“Will use this hotel again”

The Hotel is located in the old town and in walking distance to almost anything that is worth to see in Prag. The rooms are nice and clean and you can still get a smoking room. There are many good restaurants and bars in the area.

“Great views”

Clean and close to public transportation. Very good restaurant in front of the tram stop and also a 24 hour shop. The location made it easy to get from the airport to hotel by public transpiration without having to drag our suitcases all over the city. Easy walk to the main square and all over the city.

“A very good option”

I really liked this hotel, it is quite convenient in the old town, staff were very pleasant and i couldnt really fault anything except the mattress which i thought was a bit hard.......but that is simply a personal choice. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation

“Prague all-around great hotel”

It has all I need in a hotel - clean, comfortable room, good location, helpful staff, complete breakfast, and even has wired internet connection in room. Mini-bar with reasonable prices, as well. Good shower, good room size, flat panel TV, and even a full restaurant on-site (didn't eat there, though, except for breakfast, which was included in room rate). A bit too far from train station to walk with luggage, though. And beware of blatant over-charging by taxis!

“Lovely hotel in a Perfect location”

Location was prefect. I was travelling alone and I could walk everywhere. I felt very safe. Of course you should always be aware in a big city but that goes without saying. The hotel was very well priced and had a great breakfast with plenty to eat. My room was great with a lovely view of the river. Prague is one of the most beuatiful cities I have ever visited!!

Area recommendations

The entire area around the Hotel (Old Town) was amazing... if you go you must do the Charles Bridge, the Petrin Tower, Powder Gate, Astrological clock, Jewsih cemetery. Dancing House as well - and these are all reachable on foot! If you get a chance go and see the marionette theatre opera of Don Giovanni.

“Disappointed”

I asked for a non smoking room, and I got the confirmation via email for it. But I got a smoking room, an ashtray is on the table, and the previous guests of sure did smoke, because you could smell the smoke. There are black spots on the carpet (probably due to ash). Furthermore, my room was above the entrance on the first floor, where everybody went out for smoking. So when I had my window open, the smoke came in. The person who assigned the room to me did not thinking at all and did not respect my needs. So I was really disappointed. The standard of the hotel is low, for me it is not a four star hotel. The matress also has black spots, which you can see trough the white blanket, but I did not dare to the the blanket away and look after it. Who knows what more I would have seen there. You can hear the trams early in the morning, so if you want to relax, this hotel is not a good hotel. I have chosen this hotel because of the raiting, but since I am so disappointed, if i come back to Prague, I will not return to this hotel.
