“A 'one-off' amazing hotel!”

We stayed there for 4 nights at the end of July 2009 and were charmed by the mostly original Art Deco decoration and furnishings. The setting in the tropical gardens was idyllic; a short stroll to the thermal pool and gardens beyond. The indoor pool was perfect for our 2-year old daughter as the temperature was warm both in the water and at the poolside. The poolside bar and games room beyond were again, a lovely setting to relax. We were spoilt for choice with the breakfast buffet! Dinner and excellent local wines were very reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and touchingly proud of the hotel when we praised it! We had a standard room with partial view of the gardens and balcony which we were very happy with. The hotel was a bit worn and tired in parts hence our ranking of '4' above but we felt it added to the overall charm! A perfect setting for a 'Poirot' mystery!

“Thermal luxury”

This is an amazing hotel in an area that is very unique. There is a thermally heated outdoor pool which is coloured brown by iron and looks intimidating but it is superb to use. The staff were all so friendly and were dressed immaculately. The hotel itself was like the interior of a luxury 1930s liner. the beautiful gardens required 2 days to do them justice. The surrounding area was very dramatic with steam vents, hot pools, mud pools and peace. There were also some extra outdoor thermal pools in the village. Would recommend it to anyone and have already recommended to my mother

We were very satisfied with the hotel. It is very classic in style and well kept up. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and the outdoor pool fed by the hot springs was as warm as a hot tub although the air temperature was in the 50's F. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that the beds were a bit too firm for me. Otherwise I would not hesitate to stay there again!

“Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, Furnas”

The hotel has an old world charm and I couldn't fault the staff or service. The botanical gardens were'nt quite what I was expecting - nice to walk around but I don't think you'd want to spend ages there although the thermal pool is a highlight.

Excellent site in 30 acre gardens.in a volcanic region. Staff extremely helpful. Very good air-conditioned restaurant. Lack of air conditioning meant room very hot at times. Overall - very enjoyable.

“Perfect relaxation”

Very relaxing place to stay. Wonderful gardens and lovely thermal pool which is free to hotel guests. Restaurant was excellent. Set menu good value. Bar very good and has pool table. Friendly staff. Wonderful stay.
