“"Pleasantly surprised"”

The location was near our relatives and the accomodations were clean and comfortable. The desk staff was extremely courteous. We felt like they appreciated our business. We would use this hotel again during future visits.

“Great to visit Marist”

This Holiday Inn Express was fine for our purposes--located close to Marist College for parent's weekend. Reasonable, clean and good water pressure. It fit the bill for our needs.

“overall good experience”

all things considered the room and accommodations were fine. room was clean and comfortable. the only thing that would be nice is if the TV had a sleep timer on it. I felt the rates were very high. Other than that my stay there was a good one.

“"The most convinient hotel in poughkeepsie"”

They picked me up timely from the train station in a hotel. I got there and it was a very fast check in, they gave me the keys to my room and the room was big and CLEAN... wireless internet besides business center, printer etc. Well equiped fitness center. And free buffet breakfast :cereals, bagels, muffins, fruit, eggs, bacon, yogurt milk coffee hot cocoa... FREE RIDES to any place 5 miles from the hotel, you just had to ask for the service. Very nice employees and you can find that speaks your language... portuguese, spanish, english, french etc. If i had to go back i would go to this same hotel.

“HI Express Poughkeepsie Ny.”

We stayed an the HI Express Poughkeepsie, for its location to the Culinary School that is close by. Our son is thinking about going there. Also its a 1hr train ride to NYC. It was nice of the hotel to have a free breakfast. We stayed at a hoteldown the street, last year and they charged $35.00 for breakfast. The staff at the Holiday Inn was most helpful in setting us up with a free shuttle ride to the train, in the morning and picking us up at 9:30 that night. We left our rental car in the hotel with no worries. Our room was spotless,maid service was great, the front desk was most helpful to us. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Area recommendations

We traveled to Poughkeepsie last summer to visit the Culinary School, that is just a couple of miles away. The bad thing we didn't stay at the HI Express! The view's of the Hudson River in this area is awesome. Thing's do do that we found around the area are, The FDR estate, The Culinary School that will take you on tours of. There is also plenty of dining in the area. One spot that comes to mind is The EverReady Diner, that is up the road a little ways. It was featured on the Foodnetworks Diner's,Driveins, and Dives. Its well worth it. There is more dining down by the train station.That is very good also. Im sure there is a whole bunch more to do in the area but we didn't have the time. But we have been here in the summer of last year, and also winter of 2010. Both times were awesome..

Was there in the summer, and also the winter. A little chilly in the winter. Summer was great to, not to hot, or humid.

Getting there

Depend's where ya come from. There's the freeway's and the bridge across the Hudson River. Or you can travel The NorthMetro Hudson Line train. The station is right in Poughkeepsie.

Getting around

Hotel shuttle will take you there, and pick you up. Or take a cab, the fare's are fairly cheap.

Must see

FDR presidential estate, Culinary school. tours of the Hudson River in summer.
