A really nice hotel in the heart of Potsdam. Perfect for a five day stay in this beautiful city as everything is near: Sanssouci, city center, small Amsterdam, nice Restaurants, etc. the rooms are simple but comfortable. Nice breakfast buffet and good food.
Nice hotel, friendly staff and nice sauna facilities. Staff are very honest with them openly admitting better food can be purchased from nearby town centre as opposed to the hotel. Even provided a map that outlined the best places. Rooms was top notch and meeting facilities are commendable also.
We stayed for three nights. Good room with balcony overlooking the river/lake. Plenty of free parking with garage available at additional cost. Hotel is clearly popular for conferences and business meetings.
Location is at the end of the Insel and very peaceful. Hotel restaurant is good with choice of regional and some 'cheffy' creations.
Although a little way out from Potsdam centre, there is a nearby bus service and water taxi which is a little infrequent.
Berlin is an easy day trip by train and the Palaces are accessible by tours and buses from the town centre.
Recommended as an alternative to staying in central Berlin and travelling by car.
Friendly place for an overnight stay, on tram line and 200m from Potsdam Charlottenhof station. Didn't have the breakfast. Aircon kept the room comfortable even though outside temperature 30C. Double glazing eliminated the noise of the German custom of smashing vast amounts of crockery on your wedding night, which was going on outside. I'd stay there again.
I visited Potsdam for a Friday afternoon business meeting and a Saturday chill out. Mercure hotel was very central and a 10 minute walk to Potsdam Stadtzentrum. Great view of Potsdam from 10th Floor room.
The hotel was across the street from a little shopping center and since breakfast was not free, this came in very handy. The cable car line was across the street also making it easy to take a day trip to Berlin.
We stayed there for a night but did not use any facilities or dine there as we arrived very late and had to check out early in the morning. However, we had a very good sleep and wish we stayed longer. The room had a nice garden outside, and the surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful.
