“I wont stay there again!”

Room smelled like moth balls, hair blower did not work, the king size bed was very uncomfortable, needed a new mattress and I was cold! Therm. was set, it couldnt be changed. I have stayed here for the past 4 years and this was the most unpleasant. There are so many hotels in that area I will try a different one next year.The room looked good.

“Great Staff and Service!”

We had a great experience- the hotel was a typical a Holiday Inn, with all the standard amenitites which were great but the one particular thing that we all found above average was the great of Customer Service. If we needed anything we would call the front desk and someone was at our door with whatever supplies we needed two minutes later. The staff were happy and cheerful. Very impressed with the service.

“Met our expectations”

Hotel met our expectations. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful, even upgrading our room at no charge. Not too far from downtown--for us it was walking distance on a nice night! Also, cab fare is much, much more affordable than the difference of the price of the hotels that were right downtown.

Area recommendations

Market Square is a fun downtown area, with plenty to explore day and night.

“This hotel was okay!”

This hotel was okay....the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. We did have to wait over an hour for maintenance to fix the toilet. There was a long walk to the small pool area which was okay, but no hot tub. Also there wasn't a continental breakfast. We brought waffles that needed to be heated up and when we found out that the rooms didn't have a microwave, the man at the front desk was kind enough to heat up our breakfast. The staff was welcoming and pleasant. This hotel was okay for one night.

“Nice stay”

Was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Our room was on the second floor, which did not have an ice machine. We needed to take the elevator (or walk - it would be faster) to the 3rd or 5th floors to get it. There is only 1 elevator for the entire hotel so the wait could be excessively long when hotel staff start their daily room cleanings or it's check out time and guests are leaving the hotel. Room is very nice and clean. Would stay there again even with the elevator situation. Staff was friendly and nice.

Area recommendations

Portsmouth. Loved it there! Also traveled to North Berwick, York and Ogunquit

“Great value and walking distance to downtown.”

All of the staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel and room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a pleasant walk (might be long for some) to downtown Portsmouth. There were some nice touches like warm cookies at checkin and the coffee was always fresh in the lobby area. We also got vouchers for a free drink per room per night of our stay. If you are looking for a good value close to downtown the Holiday Inn will not disappoint.
