“Porto bargain”

Vila Gale Porto, what an excellent find, on the direct metro line from the airport,get off at Campo 24 Augusto then look for the tall building only 1.95 euros. We were allowed to check in at 10.00am after an early flight from London. TAP airline excellent, lots of leg room, meal and drink included both ways. We booked the hop on hop off tourist bus with expedia which turned out to be 4 euros less than the published Porto price. Dont miss the river trip nor the port tasting across the river. Excellent restaurant opposite the hotel called Triumphante 2.All in all an excellent 4 day break.

Booked hotel with expedia & paid in full before going. When checking out the hotel had no confirmation of payment from expedia, it was sorted when I got back to the UK but its hassal you can do without. The hotel is good but location not so good. Taxi's are not expensive. For eve meals go to the restaurant opposite the hotel, it's very good. Good food, not expensive & good local atmosphere.

“The best hotel near Campanha station”

The reception people were nice, I didn't have to wait for long to check in. The rooms were simple and functional, and the view from the window absolutely fantastic. The breakfast was as good as any other buffet can be. I just found there were not enough blankets, but I'm sure they'd give me some more if I'd asked. Also, the location is great if you want to be near the Campanha station as I did.

“Fine for city break”

Booked this hotel because we have previously stayed in other Vila Gale Hotels and been very pleased with them. This not up to the same excellent standard, but rooms comfortable and clean, staff generally very attentive and quick to respond to requests or problems. Handy location for the metro to and from the Airport and we walked there and back into the city centre. Surroundings look off-putting and run down, but felt quite safe, and only a very short walk to busy area. Main problem with the hotel was the lack of stairs accessible to guests and therefore everyone having to use the lifts, even for one floor. Hotel used by many bus tours, therefore at breakfast time and early evening there can be a long wait. Sevice lifts have been made available to guests, therefore hotel aware of the problem. Buffet good quality, but only small quantities of anything out at a time, quickly spotted by staff to be replaced, but delay in next dish appearing from kitchen. Main courses a little disappointing. Breakfast crowded is you co-incided with the coach parties.

“Central to Porto very large Hotel”

Booked this through Expedia when I needed a quick hotel booking for a busines trip. Perhaps should have checked Hotel location a bit more as this is very central to Porto and no where near the airport, which I needed to be near due to an early morning flight. However...Hotel is huge, very nice, but hard to locate unless you have Sat Nav, don't bother trying to find it! We took 1.5 hours to find it even though it seems the biggest Hotel in the city. In Porto, watch out for very poor signage for the Airport. Only very small signs when you get near so you need either good Sat nav or a Good map. Other than that Hotel service was good, room service very pleasant and they did have a kind of English Breakfast available in the restaurant.

August 24 Metro only 100 yards away...good restaurant opposite and supermarket....25 mins walk to dragao stadium Had a junios suite....the bed was uncomfortable

“Clean but boring”

Hotel was clean and comfortable but was a little boring and located about 20-25mins to Ribeira. The area around the hotel is very bland with the immediate adjacent buildings needing 'maintenance', having said this, there was no safety issues. The hotel has a pretty limited choice for food, so don't rely eating dinner there.

“Pleasant Short Stay”

Vila Gale Hotel was very good. Decent size and clean rooms. Our mini suite had a sofa bed for the children in the living area, and there were two flatscreen TVs. Extra sheets, blankets and towels were provided without prompting. Breakfast was of high quality and tasty. The hotel is not quite centrally located, and is in a quiet area, however taxis are very reasonably priced.
