“Mixed Feelings”
I am glad I stayed her, but mainly because I was in Porto for one night, and the location can't be beat. The room description was way, way off. I specifically chose the much more expensive "Superior Room" because it guaranteed a balcony. Not only was there no balcony, but I could clearly see from the hotel plan that I had the smallest room in the hotel. There was not even enough room to fully open the closet, and you had to step down into the room four steps, which took up a huge chunk of space. The location was great, however, if you are driving- and I emailed the day before to let them know that I would be driving- you can't access the hotel unless you arrive between a two hour window between 5:30-7:30 PM. (Or early in the morning) They didn't tell me this in the emails back and forth. So I was driving around for about a half hour trying to figure out what to do and where to go. I finally parked about a six minute walk away, and left my luggage in the car. For the price I paid, you'd think you could check into a hotel without having to lug your bags through the street. I later relocated to a closer lot, still had to drag my bags through the street. For someone planning to be in Porto for 24 hours, this was a huge waste of time. The included breakfast was excellent. But someone came in my room in the morning while I was in bed, and they denied that this happened. I saw the person exiting through the door, and they did nothing. (Do not disturb sign was hanging on my door.)
“Fantastic location and views.”
Recommend river view room as the views are stunning!
“Great location for holiday”
Overall we founf this hotel and staff excellent. We did have a minor problem at checkin in that our room was not ready until about 4.00pm and we could see this was the case with other guests. We were given a free drink however and our luggage was in our room when we returned from a walk. Otherwise no problems. Be aware the parking is in a nearby public car park but guests get half price which worked out at about 13E per day.
“nice hotel”
would stay there again without hesitation
“PERFECT PORTO”
The hotel is ideally located on the river and in the heart of the World Heritage site. It is perfect for visiting nearly all of Porto's sites and activities on foot. It is probably better for adults rather than children. Given its history, the building looks attractive but not dramatically impressive: it is unconventional in layout and room sizes etc are determined more by historical building factors than modern design. That said, our room was superb (top floor, corner, river view) and perfect for a long weekend. If being picky, the carpet was slightly old. In the hotel, there is only a bar and breakfast restaurant (and no shortage of local bars and restaurants etc for the other meals) but breakfast was efficient, enjoyable and of decent quality. All the staff were consistently charming, helpful and efficient. We were lucky with the weather in March, but our visit to Porto was outstanding and much credit goes to a brilliant hotel.
“Very nice hotel”
Great location in the old town by the river, and only 10 mins walk or 5 mins in a taxi from the main station. Polite, helpful staff who speak impeccable English. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. We've stayed there twice now and would recommend it.
“Great location, superb view , clean comfortable & friendly hotel”
Right on the river, facing the Port cellars of Gaia - nice riverside restaurants within 1 minutes walk
“Very comfortable hotel”
I think that this hotel was a real find. It was right on the water. Convenient to the tourist attractions. Staff was very friendly. And I thought that the price was reasonable given all the advantages of the hotel.
“Excellent Hotel”
If you book a river view room you will have the perfect spot to while away a weekend in Porto. Spacious and centrally located, friendly and an excellent breakfast. What more could you ask for ?
“Why stay anywhere else?”
This beautifuuly appointed hotel is in the perfect location, right on the river. The rooms are fantastic. I would recommend an upper floor river view. We had French doors plus two windows overlooking the river. Close to everything in the historic center and an easy walk across the bridge to the Port Houses. Breakfast is great and there are many restaurants nearby. One block to the parking garage.
