“Riviera Review”
This hotel is very conveniently located in the center of Porto with access to shops and restaurants. All was fine with the hotel EXCEPT the front desk staff. They tend to run the place like a convent school and watch your every move in and out of the building. They do this by means of an elevator and stops automatically on the second floor where there is a mirror by the reception desk so they can see who is in the elevator. This normally wouldn´t be a problem but a friend of mine came over to visit from another hotel and within a few minutes of entering my room I received a very curt call from the front desk telling me that I was not allowed to have anyone else in my room (I had booked a single room). For my taste this behavior is a little presumptuous and rude.
“Amazing location!”
The best thing about that hotel is the location.there is a metro station outside and its in the center of city... the only bad thing is that is old.
“Clean and traditional but not for large people”
Room and hotel were of a very good traditional standard, however shower cubicle was tiny, not recommened for large people.
“Good value”
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for and this inexpensive hotel offers good value and a good location to explore a lovely city. The breakfast isn't worth paying extra for as there are better places to go within a short walk. Cafe Guarany below the hotel is a pretty cool place to hang out but is certainly more towards the top-end than the hotel beneath which it resides.
“Not comfortable”
Too noisy to fall asleep. the desk is too small to put a laptop. Soap is provided only once.
“Traditional portuguese hotel”
although our room was small it was perfectly adequate and the ensuite was large. the cleanliness was excellent and towels changed daily. The only downside was that our bed was very hard but this may be typical in Portugal. There was the fantastic Cafe Guarnay on the ground floor which had excellent service and food .Also entertainment on fri and sat evenigs. We arrived went straight to the Cafe for a bottle of portuguese wine and were watching everyone dancing and singing to the band. We knew then we had arrived and were on holiday.
“comfortable, but nothing special”
The building itself was lovely and old and the location was really central. However the buffet didn't have a wide choice and the rooms were basic.
“Good location, very friendly and co operative staff.”
A little basic for a 3 star but generally clean, tidy, and accessible. Good location for metro system.
“Could not be more central.”
Ideally place for seeing all of Porto. Bus and Metro within 100m of front door. Our room was tiny but clean if a little noisy. There was no "do not disturb" sign so make sure you lock the door when you retire. Easy walking distance to bars and restaurants. Not the best hotel in the world but ideal for a short break.
“Very central and cheap, but don't get a room on reception floor.”
was a charming, old-fashioned place and very reasonably priced. but my room was between the entrance and the reception (2nd floor). so there was quite some noise, especially in the mornings/around noon. adress: on the map it didn't show the correct spot! didn't find it for a while...
