“All the reviews are true”
I read all the reviews of this hotel before booking because I couldn't believe it could be good for such a good price. All the reviews were true, both good and bad. The good: the staff were great, the parking was free (though tight), free wireless, the room was very clean and modern, the hotel is a bit outside of downtown but only about 12min to Powells, the water pressure was great, pretty good restaurants in the area, and nice free hot drinks in the lobby. Bad: I too barked my shins on the bloody bed about 8 times and wound up with a gigantic bruise, and while no carpet is nice it means you hear all the noise from above and around you, and the room was a little cold and controlling the temperature was difficult. My wish for this hotel is that they had put in a little more sound proofing, but more for the person that I went with who is a lighter sleeper than ear plugged me - and do bring your ear plugs. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat; it's a great find and I hope it stays this affordable for my next trip to Portland, and the hotel can take credit for me spreading my money around Portland and having a great time b/c I didn't have to spend it on the hotel.
“Doesn't get better for value and servie”
Had a great 3 day stay in the Northwest par of town. Service from when we arrived till we checked out was seamless and solution oriented. From the quality of the rooms to the coffe and fruit in the lobby we had a great stay.
“Sparse. Think cheap European hotel.”
Room was clean. Bed was OK with good pillows. Good flat screen tv. Small room with very cheap furnishings. Not even a box of kleenex. No coffee maker. Had to trudge up to main hotel to get a cup of coffee.
“Could be better”
Decent location but that's where the perks end. For the price I expected more. The room was very dated (70's) and could use a little TLC. The couch looked very worn and it was uncomfortable. Bed was a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. Room could have been a little cleaner. There was coffee still in the pot from the last renters and old food in the fridge. The parking situation is awful. I have deffinately stayed in nicer places for cheaper so I will not be going back. Too bad because it has potential.
“Reasonable and Clean”
We had a standard queen double bed two-story that was across the street from the registration desk that was located in the five story main building. This complex was very basic with outside entrances, but the parking was adequate. The heating and cooling were radiators mounted on the outside walls and noisy. Weather was very cold and we later discovered there were extra blankets in the drawers when we left. The upstairs room telegraphs foot noise to the units below. We could every footstep above and it was hard to sleep through. The rooms were clean. Fortunately, we only experienced this on our last night. Maybe staying on the second floor would be better. This was the main downgrade. Watching TV on the bed was a little uncomfortable. Could not comment on the main facility. The staff were very helpful. The registration area had newspapers, coffee, fruit and cookies available. The location is close to the Japanese Garden and about two miles downhill to downtown. For our short stay, the Suites met our neeeds.
“Modern, minimalist room in a good location”
We found Park Lane through Expedia. The prices of the rooms were significantly lower than other hotels in downtown Portland, and they offered free parking which was definitely a bonus. The room we stayed in was across the street from the main building, it was an older motel that had been renovated. Didn't look like much from the outside but the room was surprisingly clean, modern and comfortable. There was, unfortunately, no coffee maker in the room, but you can walk across the street to get coffee, tea, cookies, or fruit at anytime. It was raining so hard I didn't take advantage of that much. The location was great! We were only a few blocks from restaurants and shopping and for the price, it was definitely worth it!
“Pretty on the inside, but noisy and hairy all around”
First, I stayed in the Inn, not the Suites. Pros: 1. Great water pressure and temperature. 2. Comfortable bed + great pillows. 3. Attractive decor. 4. Convenient. Cons: 1. NOISE!! I could hear the conversation 2-3 girls were having in the room *above* mine. Not just hear them talking, but understand exactly what they were saying. I could hear suitcases going up and down the stairs to the upper/lower levels -- *and my room was not next to the stairs*. 2. Paper thin walls: see Con #1. When the guy in the room next to me left, he slammed his door. The cup of water on my nightstand (nightstand attached to shared wall) shook like that scene in Jurassic Park. No, this is not an exaggeration. 3. Sheets were not replaced like I wanted and I did NOT leave the 'do not change my sheets' card on my bed. 4. I found black hairs everywhere - including in my bed. Three of four bath towels, and at least one wash cloth, had long black hairs in them. Clearly not mine, as I'm a redhead. 5. Floors were not swept during room service. Considering it was wet and rainy outside...walking around barefoot in my room was...yuck. 6. Semi-clueless reception staff. When I asked "Is there parking right outside my door?" I couldn't get a straight answer. The reality was no, but three minutes of back and forth and the guy couldn't just say that. Frustrating. The Inn room was cheap when compared to other hotels, but I won't stay here again.
“Hidden Treasure”
I'm almost afraid to write a glowing review but our stay couldn't have been better...the neighborhood, the restaurants, the price etc. were all fantastic!
“Good”
Very good cookies at the front desk, and fresh fruits.
“Just like the Monopoly property...this BEST”
I hesitate to say how impressed I was with our stay at the Park Place Inn and Suites, because it will become better known and more expensive, but for the moment, I feel it is one of the best deals in town.
