“Jupiter”
This hotel is only appropriate if you want to stay up and party all night every night. There is a VERY LOUD patio bar outside and people were up until two thirty every single night of our stay drunk and very loud. It was impossible to sleep. After the bar closed stragglers stayed up talking until four. Pizza delivery people showed up at all hours of the morning before 7:00 am delivering pizzas and pounding on doors of people who ordered and then passed out and wouldn't wake up to answer the door. The rooms come with free ear plugs on the night stand. It was so loud that even with them in I could hear all of the noise. There is nothing indicating anywhere I checked (even their own website) that this was a loud party motel. I went to Portland to have a good time, however this place is out of control. I would never return.
“Jupiter rocks!”
Had a great time. Service was friendly and helpful, and we slept soundly at night (we were on the chill side of the property). Easy to walk to downtown from here, and had two great breakfasts at the Doug Fir (the adjoining restaurant).
“Great service and atmosphere”
The Jupiter Hotel definitely exceeded expectations. Earlier reviews had worried me, but I was quickly proven wrong to worry by the exceptionally friendly and helpful guest services. I was allowed to check in early, check out late, and the front desk provided any information that was needed. Food from the Doug Fir lounge was enjoyable, as was the location of the hotel. If you don't enjoy fun you probably won't like this place, because it's got a great fun vibe but still is a quality establishment.
“A Trendy Dump”
Located near the convention center, I booked this when other hotels were full. Had high hopes after reading the reviews calling it eclectic & fun. I stay at boutique spots all the time; knew it would be a "party hotel" which was just fine and suited my plans. The 'Doug Fir' hotel bar is busy and fun well into the night even on weeknights. I had a great time there. I can't complain about the noise because I knew what I was in for, but be warned this is NOISY even on the back-side away from the bar. I can complain about the general lack of maintenance and cleanliness, mediocre-at-best service and lack of hotel amenities. If you're looking to stay somewhere comfortable, clean, and well maintained, keep shopping! Bathroom was a grimey, smelly mess, with a leaky toilet that would flush every few minutes, all night long, only to fill itself up again with rust-colored water. Couldn't get a decent shower for all 6 days - any time someone in the hotel flushes or turns on a sink prepare to be scalded or frozen. You can barely get warm water for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. Staff never changed the bedsheets, just made the bed. When I called down to ask for an Iron for some clothes, was told someone would bring one right up - I waited an hour and then left with a wrinkled shirt. Room itself has new funiture but is a dump with cracked stucco walls, cold creaky floor and the front door wouldn't close properly! Don't be fooled by their gimmicks. Stay elsewhere at this price.
“Cool little hotel in Portland - Would definitely go back!”
We stayed on the second floor on the "chill" side and never found it too noisy at night, although there is a nightclub/bar attached to the hotel. Nice immediate area but the walk across the Burnside bridge to get into the Pearl district of Portland is a bit rough. Our favourite feature was the chalkboard doors, which we had way too much fun decorating! Helpful, friendly, laidback staff, loved our stay at the Jupiter, would definitely recommend it to creative types looking for a unique place to stay!

“Quality Stay for Price”
Would not have chosen this property, but the price was unbeatable. Now that I've stayed, I would do so again.
“Trendy hotel”
Very trendy, some rooms near the bar can be loud but it does not last too late. Get a room on the second floor, in the first floor rooms you can hear people walking around upstairs.
“bed too squishy, but otherwise great”
funky fun a bit noisy, cool magazines in room, loved the bible replacement book.
“George Jetson's hunting lodge in downtown Portland”
We stay at the Jupiter every year when we come to Portland for the Brewer's Festival. The hotel is an easy walk from the park and it's definitely conducive to a festive, party atmosphere. At check in we were upgraded to the "Lobu" rooms on the quiet side of the hotel. Ironic, because we don't go to the Jupiter for a quiet stay and with the 20-year high school reunion taking place right outside our door the upgrade resulted in a louder room than if we'd been in the original room. Good restaurant and bar on site, neat sitting area with a fire pit off the patio. The hotel is situated over a music venue, so quiet this place is not. There are people around late into the night and the bar stays hopping until last call. Overall, a great place to stay for a quick weekend in town when fun is the idea.
