“Don't stay here”
Old, smelly and not comfortable. You can find better for your money.
“Roof over your head”
The Inn At The Convention Center is a hotel where you can get a bed to sleep on, a bathroom to use, and a roof over your head. Check in / out was completely painless and the checkout time is a leisurely 12 PM. The hotel's location is relatively convenient in the southeast corner of Portland, with some bars and restaurants within reasonable walking distance. Once we found the underground parking garage that could only be entered from another street, parking was more than adequate. Other than that, my experience at this hotel was lackluster. The overall feel and decor is definitely that of a cheap hotel. The hallway to our third floor room smelled strongly of floral cleaning products and an unidentifiable musk that was undeniably body-based for the duration of our stay. Upon entering the room, our window had a clever cartoon figure drawn in the dirt with the text "wash me", one of our towels had faded reddish stains, and the shower made a constant squealing noise that was loud enough to wake up my sleeping roommate and I on both mornings. With everything in consideration, this hotel will get the job done, but is not going to impress while doing it.
“Think "Rustic"”
Without a doubt, this hotel's seen better days and it's clear that the owners treat it as their 'red-headed stepchild' (they also own the Red Lion Inn across the street). However, to have FREE parking, immediate access to downtown Portland and the Portland rail system, as well as close dining/shopping, it's worth the inconveniences. Room was reasonably clean, all questions and requests were handled quickly and in a professional manner and...again...FREE parking. Although checkout was @ 11 am, I was allowed to leave my car there until the evening at no additional charge.
“Close to Conventions”
The Inn is about as close as you can get to the Convention Center. If you take the elevator to the street-level parking area, you pretty much just cross the street and you're at the Convention Center. It was close enough that I had no trouble stopping by the room briefly during the convention when I needed to drop off a book purchase, or pick up a snack. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful when I checked in, when I asked for an extra blanket, and when I checked out. The first clerk directed me to some fabulous food carts that were a short MAX ride away. Only briefly used the free wireless, which worked well. You're close enough to the Conv Ctr that you can connect to wireless offered there as well. Convenience and low-cost are the key draws for this hotel. It won't win any fashion awards, and while it is definitely getting maintenance, it has seen better days. Everything is functional, but it's dated. If you're here for a conference and don't intend to spend a lot of time in the room, you can't beat it for price and location.
“served it's purpose”
it's close to the Rose Garden so if i were going to another event there, i would stay again. Otherwise, the carpet was stained, the walls were only partially painted, and the check-in was very slow (only 1 desk clerk and there were 10 of us waiting). It's also close the Max Rail so you get to hear the trains running all night. If you are only going to sleep and shower there, it's okay but we couldn't wait to leave in the morning.
“Fading glory”
Fading glory. Great location, sadly out of date facility waiting for a buyer.
“you get what you pay for”
showing it's age, but a friendly staff.
“"Never Again"”
Sorry that Expedia even had this hotel as one to choose from. Also the Red Lion owns this hotel!
“Parking issues”
The hotel will not allow you to check in Before 3PM. When you do check in there is no free parking available like advertised due to the convention center. I was told I could park at 5 for free, there would be places available. So I paid to park across the street, then they said to pull into one lot for employees and I would be fine. The next morning I get a call from the front desk, waking me up to tell me to move my car, when I said that I was told to park there I was informed that later there was available spots and the manager has already called a tow truck.. so running down in my pajamas half asleep was not my idea of good customer service!!
“go ahead and wake me up at 9 to move my vehicle because it was in a lot you told me to park in”
Not only was it filthy, but they told me to park in a rooftop lot, and woke me up to move my vehicle at 9 AM because it was parked in a lot that it shouldn't be parked....ridiculous!!! How in the heck does that happen? Worse hotel experience I've ever had.
