“great location, awaiting renovations”
this hotel is closing to undergo a renovation, which is desperately needed. Assuming that they bring it back to it's former elegance, with modern amenties, this will be a great place to stay.
“Not a cookie cutter hotel, a period piece gem.”
We have been staying at the Eastland Park for decades, always can't wait to go back. It is in the art district of Portland, which some might find seedy, but I find coloful and interesting. Two short blocks from Portland's best restaurant, the 555 on Congress street. Walking distance from the heart of Portland, Exchange St. And a great price.
“Great Romantic Stay!”
This hotel was very convenient to downtown Portland. The room was luxurious and the top-floor bar had a gorgeous view of the city. I would recommend this to couples and families!
“Dark, tired and depressing”
Would not recommend this place to anyone. Nothing had been updated for years and the room was drab, out of date and falling to pieces. There was an electricity junction box in the wardrobe with bare wires hanging out of it. It didn't help that our room was right next to the elevator shaft and you could even hear the 'ping' as it passed each floor through the wall. There is no excuse for a hotel to allow itself to fall into this level of disrepair. It should be closed down or remodelled.
“Portland”
Clean and comfortable, nice staff, but the decor and furniture are very outdated. The hallway smelled like mildew. The place is really in need of a major modernization.
“Great location!”
Overall our stay was really nice. We did not know about the parking garage that was $18 more per day and the desk didn't explain it well or how to turn in the card and retrieve your car-there is a drop box in the garage. The rugs in the halls needed replacing and the paint in one place on our room ceiling was coming down. Room was very large but the tv was very small and too far away to watch from the bed. Would stay there again though because room was clean, it was very quiet and the location was great. Right near the museum and great restaurants!
“Not really a 3 star hotel”
The Eastland Park was not bad save that their were some funny smells and the carpet was very dingy and stained throughout. Nice location, parking is $18 in a public garage next door (kind of shabby) but can come and go. Lots of nice stores and shops within walking distance- unless you're lazy. Not really a 3 star hotel but I felt fine about paying what we did. Wouldn't have like to pay what was stated as their normal rate.
“not a hotel, but a old old building”
This place was being used for college dorm. And had crazy long term renters. It was worn, musty....mold smelling and not a 3 star. A 1 to 1.5 star at best. The bathroom was 1/2 tub and barely big enough to fit in and close the door. I stayed 6 hours and left at 6 am. The sheets were clean and the bed was new.
“Old historic hotel”
The hotel built in 1927 had character, but the corridor carpets needed cleaning, the shower rod in our room needed replacing because the plastic covering was separating from the metal. The top floor lounge with all the panoramic windows was nice.
“Could use some maintenance”
It was obvious from the outset that this was a very old hotel, but in place of the "charm" that one might expect, what we found was an aging facility that was in need of major renovation. Maintenance issues abounded: the first thing we noticed was the bathroom vanity faucet was impossible to adjust; the AC unit stopped working the first night of our stay (this was repaired the next day); neither the closet doors, nor the bathroom door would close completely without the use of force; the electronic doorkey cards had to be re-programmed to unlock the door; there was a gap of 1/4" or more around this door and an even wider gap at the bottom; the shower faucet was almost impossible to adjust; the commode seat was loose. This hotel is located in the heart of the Arts/Financial district and is very close to many nice restaurants and bars, but, if you stay here, get ready for a lot of maintenance issues.
