“Good deal for the price”
I stayed here because it is close to where my son lives and i was in Portland for the Portland State graduation. My room was large, clean and functional. The neighborhood isn't great but isn't terrible either. I received a discount for being with the graduation party so the price was totally right. I would definitely stay here again.
“Not Bad Hotel in a Not So Good Neighborhood”
While the Briarwood is conveniently located off of Interstate 205 for the traveler heading north toward Seattle, it is far from the downtown attractions of Portland and requires a drive of dozens of blocks just to get across the river. That being said, service was good, proprietors were friendly, and the place was pretty clean. The free "breakfast" was pretty skimpy consisting of store bought muffins & coffee. Neighborhood is mostly Asian restaurants, groceries, and delis if you're into that sort of thing.
“Adequate Basic Lodging”
You get what you pay for. This is a no frills, realitively inexpensive hotel. They have a combination of smoking and non-smoking rooms. Mine was non-smoking, but clearly had been at one time as there were several cigarette burns in the room. The free breakfast is basically a bagel and a cup of coffee. Overall, if you just need a bed, then this is a good place to crash. Oh, cable TV (minimal) and the surrounding area is a bit seedy.
“Would never go back! not impressed!”
HORRIBLE! No privacy. Worst customer service that i've ever experienced!
“Good for one night stay”
The nonsmoking room still smelled like smoke. But the air conditioning worked well, the room was huge (section for couch, table, hence the suite aspect) and the bed was comfortable. The room looked clean. The furniture was a little old. We stayed only one night there as part of our road trip. I don't think I would have been as satisfied if I was staying there long term. Neighborhood was a close DRIVE to downtown. We didn't mind, in fact I've found that it's better to stay outside of downtown (too noisy at night and more expensive crappy rooms).
“Modest, convenient motel”
Room was spacious with nice view of the surrounding neighborhood--it was also quiet because we had a room facing the backside of the hotel. Room looked quite old, but bathroom was clean, although the bedsheets did not seem to be changed daily. The bed covers looked old and stained, the blankets were also old, one had a cigarrete-burned hole on it. Towels were thin and hard. Coffee pot provided, but no coffee grinds--guess you have to bring your own! Overall, this hotel was conveniently located for our needs and staff was nice. Supermarket, stores and restaurants within walking distance. The Farmhouse restaurant was pretty good.
“not impressed”
outside looks decent. need major upgrades, no iron in the room. walls need to be painted, carpet needs to be cleaned.
“Not the Greatest Area”
We chose this motel based on its proximity to family members we were visiting. A sign in the lobby stating "no guests past 8:00 p.m." tipped us off that unwanted visitors was a possible problem. We were cautious with leaving anything of value in the room. While we did not experience any problems, we did overhear the night manager giving a report to the daytime manager about a police visit the night before to escort a "resident" away because "rent" had not been paid. The staff was certainly friendly, but their were similar priced properties not too much farther away that would have provided much higher comfort, safety and general peace of mind. I would not stay there again.
“Clean and comfortable.”
The hotel staff was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The walls were thin. You could hear the people in the next room real well. Close to many businesses. The restaurant next door was real good.
“Good location for me”
Beds were comfortable rooms were clean carpet was worn
