before I start I will make you aware that I am an ex hotel manager, and I have helped opened 2 4* hotels in the UK and another hotel in Greece. this does pose a problem for me as I constantly look at the finer detail whenever I stay away.
However over all the hotel was great and we had a fantastic holiday, we arrived late in the evening and went straight to our room, I had only booked and paid for a studio but the room we got was huge and very comfortable. the hotel was well presented and had some good facilities but needed a little husbandry. meaning that in places it needed a little lick of paint mostly in the corridor areas as there were a lot of scuff marks from the trollies. the pool areas were well kept and good but in the toilets some of the fixtures and fittings were rusty. the gym was adequate for a bit of CV training but was very basic and I felt the games/recreation room was heavily under utilised. that said you wouldn't go there to play games etc but it could be better for the kids. the area was great and there are lots of restaurants and bars to explore. the boat trips were great and reasonably prised but may cost more in the summer months.
the area is generally a sleepy fishing village and ideal for families or couples and there is a good bus service to get you to most places for a day out.
overall a wonderful holiday and worth a visit.
Took B@B. Great room, good b,fast. Good courteous staff. Nice pool and garden areas, spa and indoor pool. Gym facilities. View from room interesting but scrubland to front did not make for highly recommending. View across river and watching river traffic pleasant enough. Shops etc in easy reach. Rear of hotel area (ie streets) not very pleasant and local council should do more to brighten and clean it up to keep it in line with a good class resort.
Very welcoming staff - all round. Reception staff and waiting staff extremely friendly. Room cleaners very friendly also.
Room kept clean on daily basis.
Praiae de Rocha very friendly place. We went in October and found that it was busy enough.
Plenty of places to eat - at good rates.
Just back from a four day Photo shoots stay at the Jardins da Rocha. Was located on the 21th. floor with a
fantastic seaview from our balcony. We had a tree bed studio, which was plenty big enough
and huge bathroom, plenty of hot water and clean towels, which were changed daily.
I never saw a more equiped kitchen, even had a washing machine ! Even though we dined out
every night, everything was there if you wanted to cook at home! which I,m sure a lot of people
There,s a kiddie's pool and a good size adult pool also, with free sun beds and a nice garden area.
The beach is one of the best in the world with one end a vast sandy area with a boardwalk and about a dozen bar/cafes and the other made up of smaller ones with giant rock formations seperating them, although at certain tide times you are able to walk from one to the other.
There's plenty of restuarants in Praia da Rocha, good food at a reasionable price.
Overall the staff they were so helpful, and all spoke fluent English and would definetly stay there again, it was very good value and location.
Oh and by the way the weather was just fantastic wall to wall sunshine!!

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights, the hotel is very nice. There are lots of things to do like playing golf, swimming, sun bathing, tennis, football, table tennis etc. There are three restaurants but all are not open every day, good quality and enormous quantity of food is served. Staff very helpful.
We went to Alvor for my birthday ,the hotel exceeded our expectations, the staff were so friendly,we had a room with a sea view, the room was very smart and stylish, the indoor Pool was great ,and it was warm,we eat in the hotel ,breakfast was excellent plenty of choice.and the buffet of a evening was good value for money.
I would love to stay at this hotel again
