To start, we were told that the room would be cleaned daily and the sheets would be changed after 4 nights. This was not accurate.
They only took/replaced towels daily and every other day they took out the garbage. One day they just left the liners in for us to put in on the can ourselves. While it's not a big deal, it was also pretty indicative of how thorough they cleaned the rooms. I also noted that while the shower looked clean, the drain would pool water rather rapidly and most likely there is a gob of hair down that drain that needs tending to.
No sweeping was done (even when sand got in the room), and the room had a tinge of an old moldy smell to it the whole time, which I believe comes from the AC unit or dirty mop water. I did not walk around barefooted and my socks will need through bleaching to get them white again.
The computer chair in the room was extremely uncomfortable and looked like it was made for children. I also would like the note that the beds were pretty firm and generally uncomfortable.
The last thing that really irritated me was that the staff just left the sheets on the beds and did not change the sheets on the 4th day.
If I had time, I would have cancelled staying at this hotel and booked somewhere else, but with a dying family member, this below-average hotel was the least of my concerns.
On the positive, I did not feel unsafe in the hotel room with my 82 year old grandmother and the parking lot was very well lit. The mini-fridge worked.
