This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in, and coming from someone who stays in many hotels... this accolade is well-deserved.
I only have one small complaint, and it's due to a technicality in communication with reception staff. I booked a room with twin beds, as I was travelling with my mother. When i checked in, the room allocated to us had one large bed. Turns out you can't just say 'twin beds'... according to the receptionist (Candie, I think) you have to specifically ask for the twin beds to be 'split' (all the 'double' beds have twin bed bases and can be split out). So if you want 2 beds, you can't just say 'give me twin beds' - you have to say 'split the twin beds out'. Ridiculous, i know. I was also informed by her that the reason they hadn't seen my 'special' request in the first place was because i added it to a comments section that they 'don't normally check'. There you have it.
Other than that issue (which was very quickly and efficiently sorted out by Brenda, the duty manager), I have to say that I really enjoyed my stay. The staff in this hotel are lovely and will go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay - their service is amazing. The room was fantastic, and the location is perfect. It's pricey, but it's worth every cent.

Stayed for 8 nights at the Beach. Service was absolutely excellent, from the first night to the last. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Ate at the hotel most evenings in the Verandah restaurant which had a lovely atmosphere, including a very good pianist on a couple of evenings. Hotel bar was clearly used by locals in the evenings which we enjoyed. Quality of food was excellent and good value for money, as were the bar prices. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, we would use the hotel again and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others thinking of staying in Port Elizabeth.
The Hotel is well situated close to the beach and the Boardwalk complex.
Reception was very friendly and helpful and organised a superb Safari experience for us.
Very nice grounds around the Hotel.
Complimentary drinks and snacks from 5pm - 7pm was a surprising bonus..

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the end of a 2 week trip travelling the Garden Route. The hotel is quite simply stunning. Everything is to an exceptionally high standard, the rooms were large and spacious with a private garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I felt nothing was too much or a problem for them. The food in the restaurant was delicious, so much so we ate there both nights. The spa session I had was bliss. And we even took advantage of the private cinema/theatre to watch a movie (while eating our desserts and a bottle of wine). Would definitely stay here again.
We spent 2 nights at the Paxton and enjoyed the location so close to the airport and the shops and restaurants just across the car park.
It was a rainy night when we arrived and picked up our hire car so we were grateful the hotel was so easy to find. The rooms were comfortable but a fridge would have been useful.
We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was fine although the person on the desk seemed to be encouraging us to go elsewhere. It was pouring with rain so we were quite happy to stay put and enjoy the menu which was fairly limited but quite adequate.

I could not fault this hotel, the room was luxurious overlooking Nelson Mandela Bay, It was like having all my dreams come true. The bed was gigantic . The staff were friendly and attentive at all times , the restaurant was superb with so much choice and everything cooked to perfection. There is nothing to dislike and I had such a good stay here.
