Lychee Tree Holiday Apartments was simply perfect for our family trip to North Queensland. We had three parties needing multiple rooms, and several kids to cater for. Across three apartments we had more than enough space and amenities that we could have meals together, swim in the pool every day, get in and out of town easily walking or by car, and also have private time depending on who needed sleep and when. Having our own kitchens and lounge/dining was essential so that we didn’t have to eat out for every meal but it’s location meant when we did want to try the local offerings it was literally within walking distance. The beach, marina, Main Street and links to other parts of North Queensland are all very close by, meaning it’s a wonderful base of operations for whatever adventures you wish to have during the day. Edward was friendly and always accessible, so we knew we had to only ask if we needed something. We’d happily book again for our next trip to the area.

Firstly guests need to know you are dealing with the caretakers and not the owners. Each unit is owned separately. Our unit was clean and we were well supplied with coffee, sugar, washing powder etc but only one toilet roll which became a problem when the local Coles were closed for a public holiday. We were booked in for the week so definitely a negative particularly when the office is only open for a few hours a day. The other problem is the very noisy water pipes when next door had a shower, particularly late at night or early morning. The pool was great and the bed was comfortable so I think it definitely is a good 3 star accommodation with reasonable rates. Plenty of crockery and even things often missing like red & white wine glasses. Spoke to caretakers about the water pipe noise and as he stated it would be a body corporate issue and not something he could do much about. Altogether a pleasant experience.

The apartments are self catering so yes, after the initial complimentary supply of goods, guests can purchase extra supplies at the supermarket.We do not recognize the complaint about the water pipes, however we will definitely look into solving the problem. The apartment was OK, but honestly I was a little disappointed. It is more of a motel style apartment complex than a resort. The photos look great, but they don't reflect how small the apartment really is. The kitchen could only fit one person, and it wasn't fitted out well. The pans were very limited and warped on the bottom so they didn't make contact with the stove. The saucepan provided was tiny. Only one side of the toaster worked. There was no water jug in the fridge. The plates don't match and don't fit into the tiny sink. Honestly, it all seemed a bit thrown together without much thought. Most of the apartment was acceptably clean - the bathrooms etc. But the inside of the cupboards in the linen closet and the bedrooms were dusty and grimy. The dishes in the cuboards were obviously dirty and had to be rewashed before we could use them. The linen was in very good condition, although only a blanket was supplied instead of doonas. The air conditioning was great. The pool is lovely, and very warm. The hosts were friendly. Would I stay there again? Probably not. There has to be better out there.

Thank you Sandra for your stay with at the Lychee Tree. A pity your expectations were not met. The Lychee Tree is a 3 star apartment complex with a great pool and BQ area. The 2 bedroom apartments are 72m2 and the photos are all recent. The apartment is set up for holiday makers - the kitchens are also based on this. Thank you for the feedback about the pots and pans and plates. We have ordered new ones for delivery. In the tropics we generally find that a blanket is sufficient depending on what temperature one has the air-con turned to. Regards Edward & Leo

Sunshine at the Lychee
We had a fabulous 6 nights at Lychee Tree. The 2 bedroom apartment we had was one of the best we’ve stayed in. Comfy bed, comfy couch, close to pool, lots of room, and great kitchenette. It could do with a new kettle and a less noisy washing machine but, all in all, the room was great. Edward and Leo were excellent hosts. The pool and surrounds itself was very inviting. The BBQ was so clean. All the guests we met there were wonderful people. We felt very safe. The apartments are walking distance to the Marina from Port St and the Macrossan St shops and eateries from Davidson St. We did not want to leave. Especially so because the rest of the country was in COVID lockdown. Oh well, we are grateful for the opportunity to have enjoyed some warmth and relaxation.

Good location, walking distance to beach and short drive to Macrossan street. Our 2 bedroom apartment was dated and only had airconditioning in main bedroom which was a surprise. The pool is nice and has a shallow area, good for little kids but with minimal shade it was quite warm and so not very nice to swim in on a hot day.

A very warm welcome from the hosts on arrival. The apartment was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Had everything we needed and was very clean and tidy. Loved the facility of the pool. A short walk to 4 mile beach and to the centre and marina. Beautiful location. Had a great holiday. Would definitely recommend.

This property is excellent value for money and in a great location. The operators are lovely and were very understanding when something unexpected happened to us. Our kids spent many happy hours in the pool.

The room was clean, well furnished and had all the amenities stipulated. Grant was wonderful and attended to any and every request urgently as required. The complex amenities of the BBQ and pool were absolutely fantastic. For the price this complex is such great value and only a 15 to 20 min walk to the beach or Macrossan street. 5 out of 5

Convenient location to catch Reef cruise
Very nearby to Cruise Terminal as well as area for dinning, shopping and supermarket (All within 5 mins of driving). The room I was in has a dirty electric water heater. So I decided to buy my own water and use the port to heat up to make coffee. Otherwise, the area is quiet and walking distance to bottle shop.

Not sure what you meant by "dirty water heater" if you meant the Kettle, we have spares & this would have been so easy to change over if you mentioned something. Our Water supply does cause some dis coloration inside the kettles. But thank for your feedback, but in future, if you mention that something isn't up to standard whilst you're in residence then we can usually sort it straight away.

The property was clean, had all the amenities that we needed and the staff were friendly. However some of the equipment was old in particular the fan. It did not look safe therefore we were not able to use it. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Leanne was very helpful when we arrived. Our apartment, number 22, was spacious, had a comfortable bed and was quiet, apart from the birdlife. The pool area was also very nice.

The place is so well run. It is clean from top to bottom including the pool. The beds are extremely comfortable and very peaceful at night. Extremely good value. Close to four mile beach

Comfortable stay
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Lychee. It was nice and quiet, the rooms were comfortable and a good size for the 4 of us. The kids loved being in the pool and were in there for hours. We would definitely stay at Lychee again.

Good base to explore Port Douglas
Stayed in a 1 bed apartment. Spotlessly clean, if a little dated in the kitchen. High season so price was reasonable for what we got. Staff very helpful with local information on eats and activities. Enjoyed the stay would use again if in the area.

Its roughly 5 - 10 minutes walk to the beach and the city center. The hotel itself has a nice swimming pool. However the rooms need a makeover. It looks like a old hotel and did not exactly feel like fresh when we arrived. The kitchen itself if very small and only room for 1 person to stand at 1 time.

Great apartment and awesome water quality
The apartment was clean and very big. The water tastes awesome, even better than the spring water you buy in a bottle. The only downside was that you have to buy laundry detergent from the staff, and we got there too late, the hotel staff had already left, so we had to drive to the town. Internet speed was very slow (also limited total capacity), did not bother us, since we were not there for the internet

Nice apartment close to the beach
We had a one bedroom unit, it was clean, comfortable bed. We did not cook but the kitchen is equipped with everything you need & the watlching machine & dryer were very handy.

Short 1 Night Stay
We stayed for only one night, so did not use most of the outdoor facilities. Walked to the Marina, which took about 15-20 Minuten and also to the pub region of Macrossan street, which was about 25 minutes. The hotel is clean, with basic, comfortable decor, nothing fancy, but adequate and affordable.

Very Good Port Douglas accommodation
Lychee tree is an ideal holiday accommodation for visiting lovely Port Douglas. This was our second time there and everything was good. Grant the manager is a great character always willing to help. We had no problems.
