“Tranquil and beautiful”
A car is an absolute must as the hotel is in a gated complex and some way away from the beach and nearest town of Polignano a Mare. Be prepared for a VERY expensive stay at the hotel - all menus inexplicably are unpriced. When we enquired about a taxi ride into the town we were told it would be thirty euros there, thirty euros return (by the reception staff at the hotel). We did not check with a taxi firm and it certainly seemed excessive for a 10 minute drive. The staff were faultless - charming and helpful and very friendly. The menus were limited though and it would have been great if a more rustic, authentic, down-to-earth Puglian menu was offered with more realistic prices - as we found when we explored the nearby towns of Monopoli, Alberobello and Martina Franca - all beautiful and well worth seeing. I think if the hotel offered a regular, free shuttle service into Polignano for hotel guests, and veered away from the rather stiff, formal (and very expensive) menus, it would definitely be a hotel we would return to - everything else is absolutely gorgeous.
