“Are you up to date on your tetanus shot?”

I got worried pulling up to the hotel when I saw how dimly lit and worn down it looked, but since we had already booked the room online and were going to be paying for it no matter what, we checked in. The woman who checked us in was friendly, so I thought that maybe my first instinct had been wrong... Then I walked into the room and knew it had been right. The room smelled like something had died in it and been left to rot. Luckily we had a bottle of febreeze in the car, so we didn't have to live with the smell all night. The carpet had what looked like a chunk of cupcake mashed into it, which had been vacuumed over. The walls were yellowed to the point that you couldn't tell what the pattern on the wallpaper used to be. The bathroom was so dirty that I opted out of taking a shower because I felt like it would only make me dirtier. I wouldn't stay there again if I got paid to do it. The bed was amazingly comfortable though.
