Arrived at the hotel at 2:45pm check in is at 3pm. was placed in one room quickly enough then found out was TWO single beds pushed together. So i go back to reception and explained i booked a King size bed. She explained that check in was 3pm and would see if a room with a double bed was cleaned. Was told to wait in the restaurant till after 3pm which was ok even the selection of beer was not great. We were given the new room after 15 minutes. When we went to that room was same problem. Third room was what we settled on which was also two single beds pushed together but with a mattress topper making a double.
The room was clean, the fridge didn't work great and TV channels limited. Bathroom was nice but watch out when having a shower as water goes everywhere !!
Overall wasn't a bad place as was only 20 minutes from Amsterdam central by tram that stops on the main road.
Staff were friendly and helpful very well presented. Would recommend this hotel to those going for a few nights.
PS. they charge you a deposit at the start of your stay and a "city tax" at the end both not explained at booking.
If you want a unique and exceptional stay in Amsterdam then the Breitner House is the place to stay. Camilla and Guido are wonderful hosts who make you so welcome and help you make the most of your trip. You are made to feel very special and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for making our visit so memorable!
We stayed at a 2* room as we were not in amsterdam for long and based on location. We have never stayed at a 2* hotel before so we had absolutely no expectations.
When we got to the hotel, we were met with friendly and efficient staff who gave us our key to the room. The room was a pleasent surprise, lots of space and very clean and tidy. The ultra king size bed was sooooo comfortable.
And the house keeping redone the room nicely too. There weren't any problems there.
The location of the Hotel is good, right besides water, and not too far away from central amsterdam.
I would recommend the bike hire too as this was cheaper than anywhere else I had seen.
All in all, fantastic. Would defo stay again. :)
The area is quite nice, culturally interesting, and feels safe. The room was everything we expected and wanted - clean and comfortable. It was generally easy to get everywhere we wanted to go, like the center of town or the train station, except the regular transit stops running around midnight and it became rather difficult to get back after that. If you're looking to spend long nights in the center of town, it is not very convenient (though definitely possible) to get back to the hotel.
Helpful staff and the Plantage area is a bit quieter than central Amsterdam. Still a short walk to the action and right on a tram stop. We got a three day transit pass and from the hotel could get everywhere. Nice quiet region right by the zoo.
This area is known as Plantage (Plantation) and while its lush parkland has mostly gone, botanical gardens and the small Artis Zoo provide refuge from the hustle of the city. To the north, the excellent maritime Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum is a reminder of Dutch naval power; to the south the ethnographical Tropenmuseum holds exotic treasures from the Dutch East Indies.
