"Great staff, central location, wine shop on site."
I stayed here for a long weekend in a party of 9 for a friend's birthday getaway in two studios and two 2-bed apartments. We arrived early for check in and overwhelmed the small lovely reception area with our many bags. The staff were very accomodating in granting us access to two of the rooms early so that we could drop off our baggage and enjoy the city. Likewise they were very helpful with early morning check-out arrangements on our last day. The staff were incredibly helpful with everything from lending us international power adaptors to phoning to confirm our restaurant booking for us.
The rooms were all very proportioned with clean modern interiors with cleverly integrated kitchenettes. Our studio had the quirk of a seperate toilet with a sink with only a cold tap, located on the opposite side of the room to the bathroom. Not my preferred arrangement but not a dealbreaker by any means.
The location of the hotel is perfect for all the sites and for shopping. The room was on the small size but the bathroom was large. The personnel were very courteous and helpful. They also spoke English. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. I did not eat the breakfast because there were coffee shops nearby with wonderful pastries. The one recommendation I suggest is that they should post the directions on how to use the new coffeepot/teapot. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were of fine quality which made them soft to the touch, which I appreciated.
This is a small hotel which has much to offer. It seems like the kind
of hotel French travelers would use and they are very professional. I have
stayed at other hotels in Bordeaux. They were also fine and well located,
but the Hotel Gambetta is my first choice. There is no grand lobby and
a small sitting room can be used by guests near the elevator. Just a pleas-
ant regular place where after a few visits you feel that it is your home place.
It's just a few yards from the opera house and a tramway stop is nearby as well as shopping.

This hotel is located right in the middle of old Bordeaux, surrounded by restaurants, shopping and major sights. The price was great with Expedia's discount. The breakfast (paid separately) was awesome - fresh orange juice, croissants, yogurt, fromage and charcuterie. Only issue is getting to it, since it is in a pedestrian only zone, which means you need to park a short two blocks away from the hotel. Taxis can take you directly to their front door. Decoration of lobby and rooms was outstanding for the price. We really enjoyed our stay here.
"Good value corporate-type hotel designed for a good night's sleep"
Good value corporate-type hotel. Central location a 7 minute walk from Place Gambetta (many restaurants, shopping, and JetBus airport connection drops/picks up there). Good-sized room was spotless, and had both double + twin beds, apparently standard at Ibis hotels. Gently air-conditioned, blackout curtains, and a second door between bedroom and room door which reduces noise from corridor. TV has BBC World News plus French, Spanish & German channels.
A lovely little family run hotel. Twin room on the first floor which perfectly suited our needs, compact but with everything we required. If you want to spend lots of time in a hotel then this is not the place for you, but as a base where we went out and about from it was brilliant. Personally I don't think the breakfast is worth the €8 but it does set you up nicely for the day. There is a supermarket just round the corner which is perfect for picking up a packed lunch (we could see it out of our window). This is a great hotel if you are seeing Bordeaux on a budget and as long as you aren't expecting frills you won't be disappointed.
