We have just returned from a four night stay at the Grand Duomo Hotel in Pisa. Great location only minutes from the Cathedral and Leaning Tower and lots of bars and restaurants to choose from within a short walk. The room was really nice, clean and comfortable and had a very effective air conditioning system which was extremely useful due to the very hot weather. The breakfast offered a good variety of food for all tastes (even toast and marmalade), the staff were courteous and helpful and most spoke very good English.
I had a fantastic time staying at this hotel in Pisa, i can`t fault it in anyway. This hotel is perfectly situated and is close to the main areas including the famous leaning tower which is a 10 minute walk away. The train station is so close to the hotel which was ideal for using it to get to florence for the day. In the hotel itself i found the staff very friendly and helpful indeed, everywhere was spotless including the rooms which were cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant both morning and evening was very nice and plenty of it too. Overall a first class hotel and if there comes a time when i revisit Pisa i would always pick this hotel first.
The hotel looks great inside and out and the staff were attentive, the cleaner deserved a pay rise and Reception were very helpful. Our room was large, and well furnished, all in a sort of 70's retro chic..Its location is a little strange, being in a housing estate but all in all that didn't matter. There is a superb local trattoria just round the corner which helped make our stay.We don't drive so having a good bus service is important. There were regular buses from opposite the trattoria into the centre from where you could get to anywhere.
Great hotel,at a good Expedia price and almost forgot, a really decent breakfast.
This hotel is a little hidden gem, situated on top of a hill overlooking the breath-taking Tuscan landscape around Volterra. It offers peace and relaxation, as well as being a great base to explore the major towns & attractions of the area - Florence, Pisa, Siena (all in the vicinity of 1 hour drive). Our host and owner of the hotel, Stefania made our stay very pleasant indeed, though it helps if you have a little knowledge of some basic Italian. She's an excellent chef too, and we found ourselves dining in her rustic basement restaurant exclusively in the evening. The rooms are spacious and clean, and if you book an apartment you have access to your own kitchen with all necessary appliances. All in all we had a truely wonderful stay there and would go back any time!
