“Good Hotel and Location”
The Grand Hotel Continental. Overall very good, not too far from the airport taxi cost 45euro. Hotel and bedrooms in good condition bright good looking and very clean Pool very good (unheated) you need a swim cap (provided) clean loos and showers poolside no towels provided for pool or beach Beach wonderful sands umbrellas and deck chairs all ok. clean loos just off the beach showers on the beach We Stayed in late sept and were suprised to find so many facilitys closed all the beach changing huts and beach bars and shops closed and boarded up. We booked B&B and the first evening had dinner in the hotel which was dissapointing and expensive half board guests had a better choice and a lot better value. There are a few resturants near the hotel and the food is good and not too expensive beware that alot of shops & resturants close down in the area middle September. A bus stop near hotel is a short journey and cheap way to get to Pias and bus and rail transport to other area's We enjoyed our stay and this Hotel and would reccomend it
“Best in Tirrenia”
Grand Hotel Continental is my choice in Tirrenia. The rates are affordable, and there is easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean.
“Terrennia's Gem”
The hotel is just as beautiful as the pictures of it. The weather was patchy when we stayed but still got to enjoy dipping into the pool and the waters of the Ligurian! By the size, it is obviously a spot for Europeans to flock to for their summer excursions. The breakfast was nicer than most hotel's. The parking was helpful for a traveler with car.
“A 2 star level at best, ranked as 4 star.”
The hotel is way below its ranking. Basic 4 star hotels are missing and misrepresented. The Airconditioning was not working. The hotel starts it only in June and it was noisy and hot at night. There are only 2 electrical outlets in the room and these are used for the TV and refrigerator. Hence you will have to give up those to charge your phone or computer. The furniture is very basic. The corridors have a very stron and unpleasant odor. The elevators are small and for our wing we had to climb down and up half a floor to get to them (of course having to lift our suitcases to get there as well. There are no porters or bell boys to help with anything. The front desk was populated many times with just one person during the day / evening and one would have to wait for an unreasonable amount of time to get the room key and an answer to a question. The hotel is rather far from Pisa not the most convenient for touring the city. Parking in the hotel garage is with an additional charge and the public lot was full during the weekend.
“Had a great time, would go back”
Arrived at the hotel 1 day late after flight delays. The Hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. The rooms are a little dated but as said they were clean, the shower in our room was a little on the small side you had a hard time trying to move around in it without hitting the tap and changing the temp. Being October the town was quiet and most things were closed for the season. There are a few resturants around the hotel that are nice and Pisa is only 15 mins by car so there are pleanty of places to dine. It was a great trip and I would go back to this hotel.
“Great hotel, great location.”
Best location in the city!
“The best kept secret in Italy.... sort of”
We were visiting Italy for 3 weeks racing around from Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples and the Cinque Terre. I knew we needed a break so we took a weekend and went to the beach in Tirrenia. The Grand Hotel is just that, GRAND. The rooms are nice, they remind me of rooms in a nice New Jersey shore hotel. The hotel is HUGE by Italy standards. The beach is very clean, the water very nice and the ocean has a sand floor at least 100 meters out. If you stay at the hotel you are allowed to sit at the orange umbrellas at the Imperiale beach. This is important as everyone has their own spot, we didn't know that. There are plenty of Orange umbrellas and chairs, but go early if you want some key spots. The included breakfast was one of the better ones I have had with coffee, cappuccino, salami, cheese, prociouto, rolls, fruit, eggs, juice and water. We did not eat other meals in the hotel. Instead walk a block up to the main street and there is a "Gran Bar" Pizzeria which has outstanding foods for very cheap. All in all our experience there was great. It was a perfect beach weekend.
“Tirrenia Treat”
Excellent hotel. Will definitely stay there again. Conveniently located. Friendly, efficient staff.
“Did the job...”
We booked this hotel last minute and understood that the hotel was not overly modern and needed updating, however, didn't realise to what extent. The service was very good and the room was a decent size, clean and comfortable, however, we had a very small window in the corner of the room and literally had no view. On a final note, be warned that you have to wear swimming caps in the pool!!
“Great for the beach!”
The hotel is very nice and with friendly staff. The private beach is actually the best feature, its all sand and the water is very clear and clean. The only thing was the sunshades allocated to this hotel were a bit limited if you want to be close to the water. The room was slightly on the small side but quite adequate with good air conditioning and was cleaned every day with new bedding. There was no balcony in our room but even overlooking the pool once the windows were closed it was reasonably quiet. The pool really is superb, Olympic length and 2m at the deep end. Lots of space to find a seat and really very pleasant if you get bored with the beach. Parking was good, and free (deposit required at the weekends). The food in the restaurant was ok, although there are a few restaurants within walking distance, the best one was opposite the hotel where you can sit outside albeit on the main road, but the food was very good and very inexpensive........i litre of very gluggable red wine for 9 Euros...... All in all a great place if you want a beach holiday and were easily able to visit Pisa and Florence by car.
