“Lovely little hotel set in a quiet Tuscan town”

Stayed for 4 nights as part of honeymoon trip round Italy. Proximity to station was a key factor, as we used the train everywhere - Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca are all very easy day-trips by train from Pontedera. Hotel was good value, room very adequately furnished, and the breakfast was splendid, with wonderful bread and pastries from the bakery across the road. Everything was so clean. My wife loved the little carpet rugs in the elevator which were changed every day, with "Sunday" or "Monday" etc, woven into them. Ornate interior as per photos. Staff were all very friendly, spoke good English and seemed to enjoy helping me with my basic Italian. The hotel is located in a quiet part of town, but just 2 minutes from the main street with restaurants, shops, banks etc. Note that Pontedera itself is not really a tourist town - there aren't walls, galleries & cathedrals to explore there (well, none that we got to know about), but as a base we found it perfect. The hotel is an easy 6-8 min walk from station (no hills), which we covered each day, and also with our wheel-on cases when arriving/leaving. Note - if you don't stay anywhere less than the Executive Floor of 5* major chain hotels, then this might not work for you, but for the price, we loved it! It was clean friendly, quiet, welcoming, and secure. We are both hoping to return!

Dining
We chose to do our travelling during the day, get back for a clean-up, then eat out in Pontedera each night. It worked very well. There were 4 or 5 fine looking restaurants within walking distance of hotel. . We found the family-run Caffetteria Del Corso the first night, on the main pedestrianised street, Giacomo Matteotti, and packed with local folks (always a good sign IMHO). We ate there every night. It's a bistro type of place, with tables out in the street. We loved it - very affordable, excellent food, and friendly service which made us feel so welcome. Our omni-present host, Alex, tried his best to translate the menu every night, with help from other diners (all locals) when he got stuck. We were genuinely sorry to be leaving after the 4th night, when mama in the kitchen specially cooked us a delicious fresh fish dish. Directions - from hotel door, walk right for 3 blocks(200yds), turn right for 100yds and you're there. Word of warning - on the way back to the hotel you will pass Pontedera's No.1 Gelateria - you can't miss the 5-foot high cone in the street. Difficult to find bad ice cream in Italy, but this was the best we had all trip. For those looking for a quieter, more sedate restaurant, the hotel recommended La Polvereria, 1 block to the South, but we never made it there. Also worth a note, is the Cafe in the square in front of the hotel which served great coffee, all day and well into the night. Savoury snacks, cakes and pastries galore, too.

“PONTEDERA”

Nice location, lovely hotel, staff really helpfull and pleasant. on the train line for Florence (£9 return per adult). So you can enjoy wine and food and come back to the hotel without driving. also trains for the airport. The train station area is about 5-10 min walking distance. the hotel location is great, right in the town center. the train station area can look quite unsafe expecially at night

Area recommendations
ideal to visit Pisa and Florence. Visit the town of Pontedera too as it is nice and friendly
Getting around
Use the train s you can enjoy life as well as visiting (Wine beer and food)

“Very nice hotel between Pisa and Florence”

I really enjoyed staying in this nice hotel in Pontedera. The service was great and very friendly. The rooms were quite small, though. But that was not really a big deal.

“h armonia a pontedera”

ottimo albergo 4 stelle, in pieno centro, pulito e con staff molto cordiale, colazione eccezionale per chi adora i dolci e ideale anche per bambini molto piccoli, il parcheggio per chi vuole lasciare l'auto all'esterno si trova facilmente anche se a pagamento e per massimo 4 ore. L'unica pecca è l'insonorità delle stanze non sufficiente.

c'è un parco giochi non troppo distante dall'hotel.

“Exzellentes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis”

Wunderschönes Ambiente. Große Zimmer mit schönem Mobiliar. Sehr sauber und stets hilsbereites Personal. Hotel wurde auch während unseres Aufenthalts zu Modeaufnahmen genutzt. Ideale Lage für einen Besuch der verschiedenen Highlights der Toskana. Direkt am Hotel auch schöne Fußgängerzone. Hoteleigene Tiefgarage für 10 Euro/Nacht vorhanden. Nur zu empfehlen!

“Hôtel bien situé.”

Cet hôtel est très bien situé, à 20 minutes de Pise et 1h de Florence en train. L'hôtel est proche de la gare. 1h de SanGimignano en voiture. Parking souterrain et sécurisé pour la voiture. La ville de Pontedera est paisible, peu de touristes et le centre-ville agréable (quelques rues piétonnes). Petit déjeuner correct.

“Hotel Armonia - Pontedera”

Hotel pulito, buono il servizio e ottimo il fatto che la colazione venga servita fino alle 10 e mezza, così volendo si può dormire un po' di più. Unico neo, il parcheggio in zona è quasi solo a pagamento, ma è possibile ovviare con il parcheggio sotterraneo dell'hotel, situato proprio di fronte. Tariffa expedia inferiore del 20% a quella normale dell'hotel.
