“Not Impreassed. The Penthouse Pool room is not what it looks like on the website!”

Considering the resort is a four and a half to a five star rate, it is not delivering the quality nor the service that it should be. A Penthouse Pool room that I reserved was a disappointment as I expected the pool to be a pool and not a bath! and I also expected the room floor to be clean and the furnishings to be dust and ant free.

“Not particularly impressed”

The amenity and facility of the hotel room were very ordinary. The TV did not work properly and there were too many kids around. When I asked the hotel staff to book a taxi to the airport, it was firstly quoted 1500 baht and then after I complainted, it was brought down to 1200 baht. I was very disappointed wih this hotel whne compared with the Movenpick Hotel in Ho Chi City Vietnam.

Area recommendations

Outrigger hotel is far better.

“Just ok”

Big hotel, huge property. Sea view rooms offered a view of a concrete wall. Pillows were the worst I have ever had, and although I complained about the view and the pllows nothing was changed. The breakfast was a huge buffet with lots of screaming kids and not enough staff. A long walk from the main hotel to the beach. Expensive Spa and Restaurants, cheaper outside of resort. Would not stay again.

Area recommendations

Karon Beach is a long clean beach, much nicer than crowed Patong.

“Highly Recommended”

The hotel is fantastic and we'd stay there again. Probably the best hotel we saw in Karon Beach. I'll concentrate on the negatives here because I could go on for ages about the positives: (1) Internet - should be free but they charge $100 / week unless you want to queue in their library (2) Food and drink is pricey in the hotel. Breakfast is excellent but expensive unless it's included in your package. Check this on arrival because with us, it was included but we didn't know and ate breakfast elsewhere on all but three days! Good local restaurants are Sandwish for breakfast (tuen left at hotel front, past market to Old Phuket resort, Bamboo (on the back road), Red Onion (very popular), Two Chefs (pricey but excellent), Itlalian place near Two Chefs.

Area recommendations

Karon Beach, Kata Beach (for families), Patong for revellers and dirty old men.

“Nice Resort”

First of all the Hotel's location was good considering that i was travelling with a family with small kids. Karon Beach is not the liveliest of all beaches but enough for my liking. The hotel was nice but not spectacular; the lobby was no where close to attractive ( I have seen better lobbies in cheaper hotels). The villas on the other hand are well built within beautiful gardens with a great variety of tropical plants and this is what I like the most about this Resort (feels like living in a jungle). The food was the worst I ate in my entire tour of Thailand; certainly not what I expected.

“Great hotel, great quiet location”

Could not fault the hotel for service and friendliness of staff - whether front desk, restaurant or housekeeping . Well -appointed comfortable rooms with a huge choice of room-type available to suit almost everyone. Downside is the unnecessary high cost of internet in your room, though there is free internet at the hotel's coffee shop. The hotel is a 2-3 min stroll from a range of restaurants and shopping. The beach is on the oppsite side of the street though the water there can be treacherous due to rips - at least this was the case in July 2011.

Area recommendations

Ideal for families and couples. Those looking for more lively bars and night life should flock to Patong.

“A great Resort”

Movenpick is a great family friendly resort. We stayed at the Residences and enjoyed apartment living with a full view of Karon Beach from most rooms. It was ample room for the four of us. We spent most of our time enjoying lazy afternoons by the main pool. The buffet breakfast catered to many cuisines - continental, american, swiss, asian, great quality and service. My only complaint was service we received on our last afternoon, when we had booked their "change room" from 5pm to 6pm to shower before our flight. Whoever had the room before us, took an additional half hour which meant we had to spend over 40 minutes waiting in our bathers at reception for these other guests to finish. When we finally got the room, the four of us had only 1/2 an hour to organise ourselves for the flight back home. With a six year old and a four year old, it beacame quite challenging. A complimentary drink while we we were waiting would have been most welcome! Overall a lovely resort to escape reality for a short time.

Area recommendations

We will definately consider Kata Beach on a next trip. It's slightly elevated position and small winding streets give it great appeal.
