“Great location, fantastic service and how can you top a "swim-up" room?! Highly recommend!”

We were in town for a wedding (held the other end of Karon Beach at the lovely Marina Phuket). As it was our first big trip without the kids we wanted to make every minute count - and the option of a swim-up room (opposite the swim-up bar!) sealed the deal for us. It's rated only as 3.5 star (and priced accordingly) but I consider that option to be 5 star luxury. Aside from that, the room facilities were high quality and in immaculate condition and the service was impeccable - nothing was ever too much trouble. And if you're after a decent massage and pampering (whilst they're cheaper in the streets, they are definitely hit & miss) you can get "2 for 1" in the hotel's day spa. 3 hours of pure heaven for 2 people at a quarter of what you'd pay at home. Divine! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone (families or couples - there was nice mix of both) but you MUST get the swim-up room. We were the envy of many of the wedding guests who'd stayed elsewhere for more.

Must see

Canoeing in the caves, and whitewater rafting. Awesome!

“Great Hotel in Karon Beach”

We thought the hotel was great value for money. It was centrally located in Karon which is out of the hustle and bustle (and smelliness) of Patong. It is only a 10 minute taxi ride to Patong which has much better markets and restaurants. The room was fairly basic but still great. At first we found the room smelled a bit musty, but didn't notice that after a while. We paid the extra for a pool access room which is well worth the money. The Hotel was not too crowded which was great and it quite suited us as a family with teenage kids. If you want kids club etc, it is not the place for that. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful and our rooms were always serviced to a high standard. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in Karon Beach.

“Great Boutique Hotel”

We found the hotel to be a great little spot to stay. Not very big but all the facilities that you could want - pool, gym, massage spa. Breakfast was provided with a wide range of things to eat. Make sure you book a ground floor room with direct access to the pool - just walk out your back room and jump straight into it. Only criticism would be the hard amttress but that is common in most place is Asia. Woulkd happily stay there again and would recoomend it to others - as it was recommended to us. The beach is only 200 metres away but it does have a very strong rip which would not make it ideal for children (and some adults) to swim in but with the pool facilities that is not a problem.

Area recommendations

The area is a nice quiet one and definitely suitable to a more mature clientele. Patong beach is about 10 minutes away but not a place I would recommend as it is much busier, full of bars and not a place we felt that we could relax in. It does have a very nice and big shopping centre there and obviously more entertainment options.

Dining

Plenty of good little restaurants near the hotel from low cost venues to large, more expensive hotel dining places.

“All you need..”

Were greeted with a beautiful watermelon shake and cold towels after a very long flight. Had a pool access room but was close to the pool bar so was noisy in the afternoons and also with children. Beds, like everywhere in thailand, were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable and we didnt have hot water any morning we were there. Location was perfect and breakfast was sufficient. All in all a hotel with all you could need, nothing luxurious but still nice.

“Good location”

Service, cleanliness excellent. Room massive (booked just the basic room, it had large bed, plus heaps of room, and a day-bed next to the window). Pool area very nice for lounging in sun or shade (has plenty of sun lounges under umbrellas). Cocktail bar at edge of pool. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice. 30min/d Free wifi in room and can pay for more at cheap price. Computers in lobby. Good location opposite the beach and just a 1 minute walk to main shopping area. I'd stay here again.

Area recommendations

I'd highly recommend Karon beach over Patong - the beach is nicer, less seedy, but still has restaurants and shopping. Patong is very busy, seedy, and not nice beach. Stay at Karon and visit Patong.

“Awesome! Couldn't have asked for more!”

We had looked at many hotels when booking before deciding on Karon Sea Sands and we were not disappointed! The hotel is beautiful, we booked a pool access room and it was fantastic! The staff were amazing, very friendly and more than happy to help with anything. The location was fantastic, close to everything you'd need and an easy trip to Patong and Kata. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

“Wonderful hotel!”

Karon Sea Sands Resort and Spa is a beautifully designed and maintained hotel. The spa services are extensive and reasonably priced, the service is excellent, the food is very good, and the location is superb - across the street from Karon Beach. I enjoyed that it is a smaller resort, and I would definitely return.

“Clean, great service and fantastic location”

Stayed here for a few nights in March. The hotel is on Karon beach, so if you're looking for somewhere to chill and relax with less noise, away from the hussle of Patong, this would be ideal. Patong is about a 10 minute ride by taxi (300 baht each way) and is great for night life and food. Karon has less people, The hotel was clean, spacious and we experienced very good service from the staff all the time. It's right across the road from the beach too.

Traveller's tip

Patong's Tiger club -- look for the blues band that plays on Thursday nights. Fantastic.
