“Relaxing - adventure thrown in!”
A perfect holiday - relaxing when required but adventurous also. We were travelling as a couple but the hotel was certainly suited to families also. The main hotel is a visual feast and the staff are extremely friendly. A two minute walk away is 'The Village' where you can find great cafes, bars and of course the shuttle bus and boat. The hotel has it's own elephants, the baby of which walks on the beach and is so friendly and loveable. We hired a motorbike to get around the island and explore. We went on the James Bond Tour, the Phi Phi Island Tour and to Fantasea.... efery single excursion was just fantastic. The only negative things we have to say was that we were not informed of booking of the closure of one of the main hotels restaurants when booking, this was die to refurbishment. The proce of wine is very steep but the other drinks are reasonable.... certainly when leaving the resort everything is much cheaper but this is to be expected. A fantastic holiday - we will certainly return.
“Brilliant location”
Just returned 16th March 2009. Had 12 nights at the Dusit, very nice hotel and lovely position on excellent beach. Also restaurants on beach (lotus) and up town and cars will pick up if booked, free of charge. Lotus excellent, and Toto's but avoid Chaba. The restuarant in canal village on the pier very good as well.Thai restuarant in hotel excellent. The down side of hotel is patios are extremely small and the rooms in last block on the south side needs updating. Please try and prepay breakfast as we had hassle trying to prepay for 12 nights, cost 15.00 pds each. Highlight of the day is seeing the 2 baby elephants coming past twice a day. Lily & Lucky, wonderful and they like bananas!!!!! Pool Staff were excellent at the hotel and would alsways do sunbeds, hopefully return one day.
“Very Impressed”
Hotel service was excellent in all areas, though the service was sometimes a little strained during the busy breakfast period. All of the restaurants offered good quality authentic food and attentive service. If I had any criticisms, the Thai restaurant had one of the smallest menus I have ever seen and all of the nearby Thai restaurants outside of the resort offered more extensive menus; that said, they happily produced a dish for me that wasn't on the menu. Wine prices are extortionate at more than twice the price of a good London Brasserie wine list, whereas wine in the restaurants outside of the resort was broadly in line with London Brasserie prices. It was too windy and the sea was far too rough to sail in the bay but the lagoon offered a realistic alternative; the boats were all well maintained and the sailing staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The pool area was excellent with plenty of loungers both around the pool and the beach, with plenty of shade or direct sunshine. Airport transports were smooth and reliable in a well appointed, modern 5 series BMW. The rooms were spacious, stylish, and very comfortable, with everything you might need and the fitness centre was well equipped with top quality equipment. If you are looking for a stylish, well appointed resort holiday, you won't be disappointed with the Dusit Thani.
“Great relaxing place”
The Dusit is a pleasant place to relax either by the pool or on the beach. A nice bar in the main lobby or the seafront "pub" are welcoming for an evening drink. The room was comfortable. If anything was needed, a telephone call away and the always smiling and charming employees came to your help. The food was excellent and plentiful, the cocktails are great... wine is expensive as everywhere in Thailand. We would happily come back.
“very nice and quiet hotel in Laguna Phuket”
I recently stayed at Dusit Laguna Phuket for 10 days. The hotel itself is beautiful: situated on a lagoon by the sea, open corridors, big comfortable rooms, big swimming pool and lovely food. It is however quite far from any nightlife and you will have to take a taxi (or the hotel shuttle if enough people) to Patong Beach or Phuket Town, which quickly adds up. They are also in the middle of a refurbishment phase which is quite unpleasant as noisy and dusty. overall, I had a nice and relaxing stay there but it depends what type of holiday you are looking for!
