“Banthai beach hotel, patong”

Very expensive hotel, everything is extra, Internet is extremely expensive, buy it at Starbucks instead. Rooms are not all that clean and it's very loud with rowdy Aussies. Location is amazing, right downtown Patong Beach so it's worth it just for the location alone. One of the more reputable hotels in the area as many can be shady at best.

“In the middle of Patong”

The hotel is near all of the action takes in Patong such as Bangalore Road, Patong Beach. Nice spot were you can go with kids and it was peaceful without any noise. Everything was good except for the breakfast which was overpriced and you could get better breakfasts just walking down the streets.

Area recommendations
Patong Beach, Bangalore, Seafood street, nightclub and mall.
Outdoors or beach
Kai Beach and Pangaman is a must go.

“Very happy with Hotel....”

Overall, very happy with Hotel. Location is very central and though this was handy, became a little annoying as when you step out of hotel on to the street, very busy all the time. Outside of that, very impressed and satisfied.

Area recommendations
That would depend on what each individual traveller was looking for. Hotel was very central...very busy and you are constantly approached by the street vendors which could be irritating. If you were looking for something a little more quiet, probably out further where it was a little less busy.

“Great Location, Fantastic Service, Close to everything you need”

Right in patong beach, close to everything you need. I was surprised at the beach - it was actually gorgeous even by my standards... The pool bar drinks were quite cheap and the staff were all lovely - especially the pool bar staff! we had the deluxe pool room, but not on the pool 5 steps back from it...The rooms are identical to the ones on the pool but if your willing to take 4-5 steps to get into the pool and still have a gorgeous pool view from your room Id suggest paying the 150 a night less and get the 4-5 step to pool, pool room. Close to shopping, a quick walk to bangla road and the nightlife, taxis readily available... Great restaurants too, the smaller ones were actually much nicer then the larger ones...patong seafood is fantastic.

Area recommendations
Patong beach is where i would recommend. Simply because we went to almost every beach around phuket, and despite what I had heard I thought every beach was the same..but at least in patong everything is handy. I also say patong because tuk tuks and taxis are not as cheap as you have heard - 500 baht just to get to phuket town - even after bartering..you could get lucky and get 300-400 - but most of them will tell you to go away if you offer that... the beach was surprisingly nice at patong and there was just so much to do!
When to go
I would say anytime between november - early-mid march. we went late march and wet season started while we were there (although wet season is honestly not that bad, its just like the gold coast, you get rain for an hour then it stops...and it was actually great because it stopped the heat...even overcast it was still hot!)
Getting there
Tuk tuks will offer you similar prices to an actual car from the airport..and they are really slow. Honestly, pay the extra 100 baht and get a nice air con car in to your hotel..it takes half the time..if it rains and your in a tuk tuk expect to get wet. the taxi drivers with cars can be bartered down lower too oddly!
Getting around
as stated before, get an actual car, its faster, similar price (sometimes cheaper) air con, which you will want in the heat in phuket and they can be bartered down lower then the tuk tuk drivers... we had one guy take us for a trip around phuket in his toyota wish (nice car actually) for 500 baht... we went elephant trekking, pearl factory, snake show, monkey show, kata beach, karon beach...it was great!
Must see
Phi Phi Islands tour...maya bay, james bond island etc..all of them...best money you will ever spend...do not book these trips before you go...book while there, it is a third of the cost. we looked at booking before we went at 3000 baht each..ended up costing us 1300 baht each for 4 islands, buffet lunch and and airconditioned tranfer to and from hotel for trips...go to all the islands. Also, if it is overcast do not be put off....the weather at phi phi ley etc is different to at phuket...even on a very overcast day the water is still beautiful and clear....tropical fish..monkey beach is also a must see! Elephant trekking is great too, we only did 30 mins but that was enough, again, book elephant trekking at a travel agent WHILE over there...half the price... The snake show is just insane, make sure you see that. and get a seat up high I can guarantee you will be scared..lol
Shopping
PHUKET town night markets are MUCH cheaper then phuket markets...phuket town markets are open 5-11 pm every sat and sunday only. Expect shirts for 100 baht, even girls shorts I saw for 100 baht. Boardies 100-150, cheap make up...better quality rip off labels too. GREAT food must try. In regards to phuket shopping....my advice is BARTER BARTER BARTER. They can tell just by looking at you if you have only just arrived and will try to inflate the prices...as a guide we paid.... haviana thongs :150 baht each at numerous stalls..if they say no, just walk away, you WILL find them cheaper...dont listen to their 300 baht c*ap! Tshirts : buy in bulk and you can expect to pay 150 baht each for designer copies, but the shirts are surpisingly good quality! Shorts - good ones: between 200 - 300 baht, the more you buy the lower the prices get. Singlets - pay no more then 100 baht.... if you need to buy a camera whilst there, go to the shops in phuket, the actual shopping center, they have them 1500 baht cheaper then the markets on the street in actual electronic harvey norman style shops...
Dining
The smaller restaurants are actually better..venture up the smaller side alleys and you will see cute (but very clean tidy and well presented) restaurants...best food ever. all made fresh too. The only big one I can recommened is patong seafood on the road thats on the beach...the curry there was awesome...
Nightlife
Bangla road is all I can say...a million bars, cheap drinks and cocktails (89 baht! for a cocktail..50-70 for a bottle of beer) If your going to see a ping pong show be warned - they will tell you 'free free' and take you to their club, and make you buy a drink for 800 baht just for a coke or basic beer....'money night' club is probably best value for money, the others are all boring dancing. You still have to buy the 800 baht drink at money night but the show goes much longer...and the 2nd drink is way cheaper, third drink is cheaper again...

“Phuket location”

Over all this hotel rates with the best available in Phuket. Central location , Good layout , Clean rooms. The beds are very firm however this is the only drawback.

Area recommendations
Patong beach is the centre for dining & night life in phuket. Have stayed at numerous hotels in the area 4 & 5 star , & the Banthai would rate as the best for location & overall satisfaction.
When to go
Having been to Phuket a number of times thoughuot the year i can highly recommend the period from December thru to February. The lower humidity & fine days are worth the bit extra in cost.

“Fantastic Location, Great Hotel!”

We had a fantastic stay at Banthai hotel in Phuket. The location was perfect, right on the beach in the main street. The staff were extremely helpful, every request was met quickly. Timmy at the pool bar kept us entertained and the cocktails were great! Only issue was fireworks going off at all hours of the night every night and internet was very expensive. Would recommend to anyone!

“Perfect pool and position.”

This hotel was everything we wanted and needed in crazy Patong. Its far away enough from the main crazy street Bangla Rd. The beach is across the road. The pool is great with bar staff who are very friendly and made our stay fun with great drinks and good music at the swim up bar. The rooms were great- we had a superior room upstairs and didnt find the lift postion an issue (as other review). The staff were lovely and made our experience just as good as other 4* hotels. Its a great hotel and would recommend it.

Dining
The resturant in the next street up named "Sabie Sabie" is cheap and GREAT!

“well-positioned and very cozy hotel”

I think a location of the hotel is just great! It's a modern, cozy, and very green hotel. I very like Banthai. I felt myself very comfortable in my superior room. The hotel's restaurant is little expensive, but offer big variety of dishes. Unfortunatelly WiFi internet access was not free even in the lobby area. Three pools is just great, with complicated shape, different deep ranges, jacuzzi and many vegetation beside. This hotel is great for families with children (not very small). Every day we had live music in the Port restaurant. Thank you BANTHAI for the PERFECT time I spent!!!!!!!!
