“Fantastic resort”

Avista should be five star, great service , the restaurant has best food in the area complimented by very helpful and happy staff . Very clean and modern. Beautiful spa at Avista , well worth the money . Fantastic location to shops and restaurants in Kata beach and a short stroll to the beach. Don't be put off by the hill as it's a good way to walk off all the extra kilos - they also have a shuttle serviace available just in case.

“Beautiful hotel and great service”

My expectations of the hotel was fairly average from reading some of the reviews, but my girlfriend and myself totally love the hotel. Very welcoming and hospitable as we walked in. Our room was beautiful although we were in the backside of the building so we didn't have a view. There was a huge pool with pool bar which we took advantage of during happy hour. There is a massive hill up to the hotel which may be inconvenient for some people. Location is good around Karon/Kata, but it will be 300-400 baht if you want to get to Patong. Nothing for me to complain about, totally love it.

Area recommendations

I think Karon or Kata is a good area. Not as busy as Patong although I would have stayed at Patong if I was with a group of friends on a party trip and not my partner.

“Great for families!”

Great for families and groups of travelers. Restaurant canteen style. No bar, or entertainment. Wouldn't recommend it for single travelers, but great for families!

Area recommendations

Plenty of massage places and shops around. Location is great. Get a moped and explore!

“"Very enjoyable stay"”

This was our first visit to Phuket, and we chose to stay at the Avista based on the reviews from Expedia and Traveladvisor. It was a great choice. The location of the hotel up on a hill in Kata Beach allows visitors to escape from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas while still having access to them whenever it is desired. The only frustrating thing that we ran into is that the hotel and a taxi service seem to have some type of agreement such that no other taxi drivers will pick up from the hotel. Thus, if you need a taxi to go anywhere, you are forced to pay the very high prices of the taxi service out front unless you walk down the hill to the main part of town. This wasn't a big deal until we got to the last day when we had to cart our luggage down the very steep hill. The rooms at the hotel are clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and efficient. We included the breakfast buffet with our room, and it was a great choice. The food was very good with a lot of selection to choose from. We also at at hotel restaurant for dinner, and we found the dinner service and food to be excellent as well. We will definitely choose the Avista as a place to stay should we head to Phuket again.

“safe zone tsunami !!”

the hotel is locate on high level on the mountain so we can't see the sea,but can walk about 10 minute to the beach. Game room is closed early some night,there is nothing on TV I want to play games but the room is closed 9 P.M. Breakfast is OK but your chese is not OK. The overall is good choice to choose this hotel.

“Great Hotel”

I was really impressed with this hotel. I found it the staff extremely good, helpful and friendly. I would go back anytime. The only drawback is the hotel is situated on top of a hill.

“Great hotel”

Apart from a few small details (eg. we wanted to sleep with only a sheet over us, not the doona but it took a while to get the staff to understand this request), we were very impressed with the standard of facilities, the service, the food and the location. A fantastic hotel at a good price.

“Good hotel in Kata”

Good hotel, service is good too... What seemed weird to us - there was no restrooms in the hotel other than in guest rooms. So if you are spending time at the pool or in the fitness room, whenever your nature calls, you have to return to your room. That is terribly inconvenient if you are traveling with two kids, and your room is on a far side of the 5th floor... Otherwise our experience was good.

“Well worth the price!”

Everything was great! Hotel was very good, had good facilities as well. However, the room was not clean when we first arrived as the room had hair on the bathroom floor and on the bed.
