“Sugar Palm Grand Hillside Phuket (Kata Beach)”

Superb hotel the place is better than the photos one word of warning it is built in to a hill side and there are 216 steps to the top part of the hotel and even using the lift getting to a room on floors above floor 6 is no mean feat so if you have problems with walking up lots of steps be warned, Apart from that I would thoroughly recommend this hotel , 2 minutes from loads of bars, restaurants and the beach. didn't eat in but why would your with so much on the door step, staff were very polite and helpful, the rooms cleaned to a high standard daily and the minibar prices weren't over the top stayed for 6 nights October 2011 and would do so again Hope this helps

“Would definately stay here again”

We had a very pleasant stay at Sugar Palm Grand Hillside. Great being high on the hillside with views and good pools. Nice big room and spacious bathroom. Very good covered deck area. Well sound proofed and no noise from neighbours. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definately stay here again and would recommend to others.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff and good standards of cleanliness. We had a pool access room which was great, only bad thing was very steep hill to walk up to hotel.

Very happy with the friendly staff and clean simple rooms. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Kata beach. Has many pools (11 i think) with a swim up bar. Hotel is a short stroll to the beach ( one of the quieter one in Phuket). Breakfast was a buffet and had everything from ceral to hot food ( Nice).

“Cheapest Paradise Ever”

I would go back anytime. It was the cheapest paradise I've ever achieved in my life for a standard room with a pool view. Pros: Comfy king size bed Modern room with minimalist decor Robes and slippers included Safe in closet Couch in room Desk overlooked wall of windows Gorgeous flat screen tv with several English language channels Balcony overlooking pools Shower was like dancing in a waterfall--multiple heads Big tub in bathroom too Glass bowl sink Loved the shampoo and body wash hotel provided Room was big and clean 11 pools to swim in--some with waterfalls Great views of the town and the beach The Orchid next door was perfect for inexpensive and tasty meals Besides the shower is a rock gully that excess water runs down--while you're showering--so zen! Front desk was helpful A/C worked perfect Price during monsoon season is a steal. We stayed in late July and had rain in the morning but most days it stopped/cleared up in the afternoon. 5 minute walk into town 10 minute walk to Kata beach Refrigerator stocked with pay as you eat and drink stuff Free complimentary bottled water every day Beautiful landscaping/gardening Cons: Located on a steep hill. Not an easy walk from street level to lobby especially in humidity Some of the pools require walking up the super steep hill Had to ask for toilet paper because maid neglected to replace it once Sink leaked on floor Pools could use some maintenance work--chipped tiles and white stains on black tiles

“An OK Hotel”

Unprofessiional staff who struggled to understand the most basic of the English language. They are the people providing services to Tourist therefore should NOT expect us to speak their language!

“CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN NEXT YEAR”

Sugar Palm Grand is extremely well located just up from the main Kata restaurant strip and beach. The hill is manageable- just ask for a room on the second or third levels on the left hand side of the resort viewed from the lobby. There are two lifts due to the hillside location. The first is for 4 floors. The second is around 75 metres walk ( flat) and covers another 6 levels. The last 3 floors are reached via several 30 metre, 30 degree angled concrete walkways and basically for the young and fit guests. Rooms here have great views as they are at the top of the resort. Anyone up to 80 years of age can navigate the lower and medium levels( 10 or so) serviced by the two lifts. The breakfast is good and extremely good value.The rooms are cleaned very efficiently and the staff are pleasant and helpful. This is the best value for money hotel in this part of Phuket. Room service charges for drinks and food are very low and great value. As a recommendation to the management, maintenance of room fittings like taps and toilet holders etc should be actioned soonest as our room had several loose fittings in the toilet and bathroom/basin areas. External concrete facings were in need of painting and rendering repairs due to the high level of salt air corrosion. Overall we could not fault our stay with lobby access to 4 computers free of charge plus free room wifi. Next year we will spend at least 2 weeks at SPG rather than 8 days this trip.

“Planning to go back again!”

After reading several reviews of the hotel online, we were all a bit skeptical. Traveling as a group of 6 we booked 3 rooms, all of which had a breath taking view of the island, and were all located close to clean swimming pools. We stayed for 9 days and the walk up to the hotel from the beach wasn't at all bad. The staff were extremely helpful, the rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. We were provided with guides to Phuket's attractions. There's a great cheap and satisfying restaurant right across from the hotel with both Thai and foreign foods. The hotel is no more than a 5 minute walk from a 24 hour 7/eleven, and other seafood and pizza restaurant. The beach is one of the nicest on the island, hassle free, clean and child friendly. The hotel satisfied us all greatly, and we can't wait to go back. Superb value for money.
