“Independence Park - Great location.”
Get away weekend at Thanksgiving. Great location for all the tourist sites. Good restaurant and eateries all within easy reach. Five star it is not, but comfortable affordable accommodation in an ideal location it certainly is.
“Great Location and Character”
The hotel represents great value with a fantastic location for seeing Philly. The place has a good level of old world character with a cosy breakfast room & great sitting area in Lobby. Would come back here again!
“Location, location, location”
The location was perfect. Right in the middle of everything in the beautiful 'old city'. Restaurants and cafes on the same street. Walked to the downtown area (about 45 mins). Don't be put off, the walk was very pleasant and we saw a lot we would not have seen if we had caught a cab/bus....a leisurely stroll in fact (and yes, we walked back too). Staff were extremely helpful and very knowledgable. Our room was small but comfortable. Roomy bathroom. Shower was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful, though for us tea drinkers, they need to get much stronger tea - theirs was like dishwater! Our overall experience was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Perfect location for historic Philly!”
This was absolutely the best possible location for our family during our first trip to Philadelphia. It was incredibly close to all the historic sites--just steps away from Franklin Court and Independence Hall. The hotel itself was charming and cozy with a friendly and helpful staff. Late at night some surrounding bars were busy and it lost some of its family friendliness, but this would not deter us from staying there again; we'd just plan accordingly. Still, if your trip is focused on the national park and historic sites this is a lovely place to stay! Our 8-year old son loved the atmosphere, the liberty bell waffles at breakfast, and the game tables in the lobby.
“Very Dissappointed with the DIRTY Small Rooms and no coffee until eight am”
We were really disappointed - the room was dirty and very small. The continental breakfast offered was bread and dry cereal - there was an additional charge for fruit, yogurt or a waffle. On the weekends you can not even get coffee until after eight am. We felt for the price we paid it was a rip-off.
“Convenient to historical areas.”
Conveniently located near historical areas. We arrived on a Wednesday and were promptly greeted with a wine and cheese reception in the lobby from 5:30-6:30pm. From 4:30-5:30pm they also have tea and cookies in the lobby. Staff very helpful. Rooms beautifully appointed and spotless. Would stay here again. We drove into the city and were able to part at a garage just around the block for $18/day - quite reasonable.
“Good Location”
Probably was once a nice hotel...area has changed ant it would take a lot of money to really fix this place up. Hallways smelled. Towels skimpy. OK for price and location, but motelish more than hotelish.
“Very Good”
Met all expectations
“Really lovely hotel”
This hotel had a homely feel with a comfortable and tastefully decorated front loung/lobby area with tables and chairs, lounge suite and coffee table and free internet access next to a warm fire. During the day tea, coffee and cookies were set out on a sideboard and newspapers and some tourist information was available. My room was attractie, comfortable, very clean and the bathroom had all the comfort and facilities of a modern hotel. This is not a corporate hotel but a good one for families and couples interested in the historic area of Philadelphia. Also had easy access to the Independence Visitors Centre and an informative city bus tour.
“Good value”
Overall, good value for the money. Would stay here again. Some of the staff were a little, um.. loud (ie. yelling at each other which added to the philly ambiance). The continental breakfast was a little sparse if you don't pay for the "upgrade", but still a good value.
