I stayed five nights at this hotel. Had serious jet lag and spent three day/nights in the room, bar / restaurant. My room 601 was comfortable and clean. Hotel was quite noisy during the day and up to about 2am. After that its pretty quiet. The five nights I did not encounter any issues worth mentioning. Staff was very nice, friendly and fun to talk to. Breakfast buffet was good. Same as restaurant. Not going to make a special trip here to eat but being connected to the hotel, it was convenient and good enough. The bar (Called "The View") however, is worth a special trip, esp at night, because of the view of the city. Location is awesome for people who want night life. Most the action is down the street to the right. This hotel sits perfectly in a quiet area before the bars. Overall the hotel was great. I recommend it for people on a budget who aren't picky nor need 5 star treatment.
We had a bit of miscommunication with staff course of English but everyone was very helpful and kind.
Location was good but it was bit noisy till late night with loud music cause here was very close to many bars and backpackers area.
Room was always well cleaned .
They overbooked and gave me an upgraded room. However the upgraded room is the same size as the room that I booked, I suspect their regular rooms would be smaller than advertised. The room was nice with a view of Bitexco tower. Their gym was non functioning. The weight resistance machine's cables were all loose.
"room size matches with advertised size, near bars"
This is a rarity in Saigon. Their room sizes actually match the advertised size. Most hotels in Saigon exaggerate their room size. This hotel doesn't. If the website says 25 square meters, their room is actually really 25 square meters, not 10 or 15 as most hotels are.
Pocket Guide: Ho Chi Minh City Pham Ngu Lao Hotels
Affordable accommodation, interesting shops, and a buzzing nightlife make Pham Ngu Lao the destination of choice for backpackers. Pham Ngu Lao is also renowned for its street food. Gorge on banh mi--Vietnamese baguette sandwiches--or pho, the famous noodle soup. Then nurse a local draft beer, bia hoi, at a road side bar, and people watch.
