“Best hotel in Petra”
Lovely hotel, fully up to international standards. Best location for visits to the antiquities.
“Impressed”
The location of the hotel is perfect. It's only a short walk to the main entrance to the ruins. Also, it's really close by The Cave Bar which is an interesting bar in the area. The hotel's restaurants are reasonably priced, but the gift shop seemed a little pricey. Overall I think this place is great and if I were to go back then I would stay there again.
“Fantastic location next to entrance to Petra, but not entirely perfect hotel !”
You cannot get any nearer to the entrance to the ancient city and this was its main advantage. The room was beautiful and the service generally excellent with a wide range of eating/drinking options. However there were a couple of flaws - firstly, our room overlooked an indoor atrium and so there was no natural light and if we opened the patio door a very noisy crowd from down below even at 4 am ! Secondly, after a day of exhausting site seeing we wanted to relax by the pool the following day, the sun was shining but soon disappeared behind the Hotel roof and there was nowhere else to lie in the sun. Otherwise the hotel was quite expensive but we didn't mind paying for good quality and good service, which we generally received.
“Great location, rooms ok for short stay”
This hotel is in the best possible location to see Petra. The food is very good but the same every day. Service staff are gracious and friendly. The rooms ( especially the bathrooms) are small and spartan for the price. They couldn't offer worse towels. No spa and the Turkish Bath the hotel recommends up the road is fairly seedy. But overall, it is the best place to stay for convienence. Again, the staff were wonderful.
“Beautiful location by the Dead Sea, very crowded, staff cannot handle the amount of guests”
The resort is beautiful with gardens, various pools, views of the Dead Sea and Israel, it is set up nicely like an old arab city. As all hotels in Jordan, I find the staff and Jordanian people in general very kind, friendly and helpful and they all speak English well. I have been to more Moevenpick resorts (Petra and Aswan), but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with some aspects of the resort. There isn't enough staff to check you in at reception. Our bags arrived in our room well before we did. The buffet restaurant is extremely busy and really too small for the number of guests and the kind of guests. There are families (large families with small children), conference delegates and couples. These groups don't really go well together and a romantic dinner for two is out of the question. Breakfast is the same. The food is great, but staff cannot handle the amount of guests and the restaurant is too small. Other restaurants like the Grill are excellent, but very pricey. The Zara Spa is great, even if you just attend as a day guest for each, it is a lot quieter, your own infinite pool and the best sunset views of the resort. Overall a great experience, but beware of the crowds!
“Worth it for the location and amenities but best of a not v impressive bunch.”
This hotel is ideally located for early morning visits to Petra and staff were friendly. Amenities incl a decent Moroccan/Syrian influenced bar , good roof terrace and what apeared to be a good buffet though we are not very keen on hotel buffets. We ate in the mediterranean restaurant and apart from some very good fish it was a lacklustre experience. It's nice to have the pool but it's tiny and half in shade. When we were there a family had taken up the whole of the sunny side so this will give you an idea of scale. All in all, the modern town surrounding Petra is less than impressive and accomodation seems in keeping with this.
“Petra at your doorsteps”
This hotel is fantastic. All of the hotel workers were wonderful, helpful and very professional. This hotel is literally at the top of the entrance/exit to the ticketing area of Petra. So once you leave Petra, weary, exhausted and feel like you just can't walk another step you won't have to becuase the doors to the hotel are right there! They do serve a delicious breakfast buffet so be sure to choose that with your room. There is a wonderful roof top eating area for drinks and Barbcue. The restaurant in the hotel is pricey so if you rather not pay that much there are local restaurants just down the block plus some nice souvenir shops as well. I would caution to bring enough cash to exchange or enough JD to get you started becuase we had a hard time using their ATM machine. It was out of money one day, got to pull money the next but then again wasn't able to take money out the 3rd day but luckily I had been warned to have some on hand before I got there. They do accept credit cards in the hotel and in the souvenir shops. Another big deal breaker for me was that they had a small refrigerator stocked with canned sodas of different flavors which they restocked daily at no charge for you to consume. Also offered 2 bottles of water daily in your room. I will definitely use this hotel again should I visit Petra or Wadi Musa. Just can't say enough of how I enjoyed my stay with coffee at the roof top in the evening. We were three. My son slept on a cot and we each had our single bed
“Perfect location”
We stayed for 3 nights and were very satisfied with the hotel in general. The building is beautiful inside and the rooms are large and comfortable. Security is a bit of pain you have to have your bags x rayed every time you enter the hotel. The pool is very small and is also only one depth - deep. Not suitable for children. The breakfast is very good, buffet style and all the staff were excellent. Location is perfect, very close to the main entrance of Petra. No views of Petra from the hotel as it is quite a walk to the Rose city.
“Charming, very courteous, perfect place to stay.”
Because we loved the Movenpick hotel in Bahrain, we decided to stay at another Movenpick in Petra. Wow, what an amazing deal we got. Free buffet breakfast, free mini-bar, beautiful room, nice toiletries. Will stay at Movenpicks where ever they are available.
“Best location and best service in Petra”
I live in Jordan and when I want to take my visiting friends to Petra I always choose this hotel. It is the best and the closest to the entrance which is very important when you come back tired and want to relax. Good breakfast, swimming pool and rooms exept 2 things: rather uncomfortable pillows (for my taste) and noisy AC with no temperature regulation. Same medium cool air is coming out whatever you try do do with the controls. Friendly service etc.
