Going to Petra - Stay here!!

If you're going to Petra then you'll be at the door step of the ticket gate. There's off street parking and a great internet cafe up the road (internet access in the hotel is v-e-r-y slow!). The terrace is fabulous with one of the widents selection of shisha I've every seen - don't have the chocolate flavour though! Cherry is awesome! Take a shawl onto the roof as when the sun sets it gets a bit chilly. The wait staff in the morning are so friendly and will keep your coffee cup full - bonus!

Great location, nice hotel but will be great when upgrades complete

I was not impressed by the old rooms however these are in the process of being upgraded and am sure this will restore the hotel to the being the premier one in Petra. All the other hotels look tired or are out of town (and isolated). Not 5 star luxury you would expect from travelling in asia but good none the less. Definitely the best hotel and also within a short 2minute walk to the gates of petra. Pool is nice for summer, gym is good if you are still in need of a workout after a day exploring petra. The food here was good and we looked at the other hotels but kept going back to the movenpick. Buffets were good but lacked hot vegatarian options. If i went back I would try some of the local restaurants as the movenpick is the priciest for food/accomodation.

What to pack: We visited Petra in January and didn't need a coat like everyone says (and we live in a hot country). Highly recommend some good walking shoes or trainers as flip flops or pumps will start to hurt especially on the walk back!
