Lovely slice of Sweden in Perth

Posted 16-Nov-2014
This is a great hotel, conveniently located in the Perth CBD; with a true traditional Swedish feel about it. The staff, all dressed in traditional Swedish dress, provided excellent (very Swedish) service. Free wi fi and spacious rooms were a real plus, and certainly sets the hotel apart from other Perth hotels. Certainly, one of the biggest pluses was the amazing Swedish Smorgasbord breakfast, included in the tariff. As I travel to Perth for work often, and stayed at a number of other hotels prior to staying at Miss Maud's, this will be my hotel of choice for further trips.

Central location in CBD

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Pros: Location, Restaurant.
Cons: Check where air conditioners blow and add deflectors.
Location: didn't get a chance to look.
Normally I give Miss Maud's top marks, however the room I got this trip had the air conditioner directly above the bed, It didn't matter where I put the air direction vanes the the air always ended up blowing on the bed and the lowest fan setting felt like a hurricane, so I either had to turn the air conditioning off or try to sleep in a draft. I turned it off and the room got hot, so I still didn't sleep well. This is my first complaint with Miss Maud's. The other thing that disappointed me was that they have removed their old world elevator and replaced it with a modern one, which lost a good deal of that classic feeling that the hotel has.

Home away from home-like

Posted 15-Oct-2014
Pros: A clean and pleasant Swedish atmosphere and its lovely breakfast included in the room rate.
Cons: Keep the low rate so that we can keep coming back.
Location: very convenient spot to go around for the first time with free "CAT" buses that go round the city CBD within 3 mins. walk from the hotel.
We arrived early and we were given a room to check in. that was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast was delightful and freshness was its main theme. The room may be a bit small but very clean. We stayed there for a night and we enjoyed it. The free wifi in the room was a real bonus for connection with family and friends. The beautiful Swedish decorations created a relaxation for a holiday break.

Pros: The breakfast
Cons: The receptionists
We arrived after a long drive and just wanted to sit down, have tea and relax. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist had problems smiling and struggled to utter any words. Not the greeting we expected. It was a Saturday night and after stumbling upstairs with heavy bags we came downstairs and stumbled out onto the street whereupon the door was locked behind us immediately. This was at 7.30pm? We soon realized why and came across drunks etc and struggled to find anywhere decent to eat. And of course we didn't want to bother the in-communicative receptionist. We decided to settle for the restaurant smorgasbord but although it looked wonderful we decided $60.00 each was more than we wanted to spend for an off the cuff dinner. In the end we ended up with a meal Id never want to eat again. Oh well that's travelling. But as I had paid for a hotel and I'm now asked to review it I cant hide my disappointment. Sorry but your staff could try smiling once in a while and also the bed was uncomfortable and the shower was terrible. To be fair the staff in the restaurant were excellent and it was helpful to have such a good breakfast every morning.

Location: The buses free buses were right on your doorstep. Getting anywhere to local attractions and the train station was easy.

We stayed 3 nights

Cons: The lift is old and inconvenient but is currently being replaced
Miss Mauds was a very comfortable light and airy boutique hotel excellently located in Perth close to main shopping malls and Perth railway station. The buffet breakfast is excellent.

Last Minute Choice

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Convenient for free buses and main centre of Perth. Breakfast Buffet
Cons: They are replacing old lifts (quirky) with larger modern one.
Location: Walking distance ( 5 Minutes) to main shopping Malls, St Mary's Cathedral (worth a visit), 2 blocks to gardens and Swan river.
Great for a short stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean but very small and noisy (big machinery outside window) so unable to have windows open at night and aircon blew down on bed. As this was a last minute booking (and one person only) maybe there were no other rooms. Suitable for over 50's and single women travellers. Restaurant was good (breakfasts were included Buffet style) Would stay again but ask for different room.
