“Wonderful location and hotel”

Great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Very pretty setting. The restaurant was nice. It was lovely to be served champagne and canapes outside before dinner. Beds comfortable. Good breakfast. Well located to explore Asti region.

Traveller's tip
Serraville shopping outlet is not far away . 180 designer outlets - leave a full day! It is approx. 30 min drive.

“(fast) alles wundervoll”

Hervorragendes Hotel mit freundlichem Personal, leider auf der falschen Seite (nördlich) von Asti, daher etwas abseits gelegen. Die Zimmer im Dachgeschoss sind auf zwei Etagen angelegt, optisch sehr schön und für uns unproblematisch und sehr interessant, wer nicht gut zu Fuß ist und Treppen meiden muss, sollte ein anderes Stockwerk bevorzugen, auch das grundsätzliche Fehlen eines Fahrstuhls könnte dazu führen eher auf die unteren Stockwerke auszuweichen. Auf die kleine Dachterasse mit dem weiten Blick in die piemontesische Landschaft muss man dann leider verzichten. Wenn man von den genannten baulichen Dingen absieht ist hier alles top, wir hatten schöne Tage und werden wiederkommen. Wer italienisches Flair sucht und sich wohlfühlen möchte sollte hier vorbei schauen.

Area recommendations
Die Gegend südlich von Asti, vor allem ab Alba (Weinbaugebiet Langhe) ist landschaftlich interessanter als der Bereich nördlich von Asti (ist bis zur Po-Ebene aber auch nicht wirklich schlecht). Zu empfehlen sind Besuche in den regionalen Önotheken (z.B. in Barolo, Castello Grnzane Cavour u.a.). Interessant ist auch der Besuch - mit Weinprobe - eines Weingutes, hier ist allerdings eine Voranmeldung erforderlich.

“Entlegene Oase auf einem Hügel im Piemont”

Die Locanda verfügt als ehemaliges Kloster über eine wunderbare Lage und schöne historische Bausubstanz. Die Gärten und der Pool sind sehr gepflegt und stimmungsvoll. Der Wellnessbereich eröffnet leider erst 2012. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier richtig, aber uns war es Mitte April fast zu ruhig. Als wir am 2. Tag die einzigen Gäste waren, gab es kein Frühstücksbuffet mehr, was einen gemischten Eindruck hinterliess: Als ob das Hotel noch gar nicht richtig eröffnet und alles etwas provisorisch wäre. An der Rezeption hat man uns zwei Mal sehr gute Restaurants in der Umgebung empfohlen, was erfreulich war. Positiv ist auch der freie Internetzugang in der Lobby und die gratis Parkmöglichkeiten. Insgesamt ein lauschiger Ort und ein Hotel mit Potenzial.

Area recommendations
Das auf einem Nachbarhügel gelegene Restaurant Natalina in Grazzano Badoglio mit seinem liebenswürdigen Wirt, der ausgezeichneten piemontesischen Küche und einer für die Qualität überraschend günstigen Flasche Barbera vom direkt angrenzenden Weinberg ist sehr zu empfehlen.
When to go
Natürlich ist der Herbst DIE Reisezeit für das Piemont, aber wir haben den nahezu touristenlosen Frühling auch sehr geschätzt. Die Gärten der Locanca d'Uffizio standen in voller Blüte, die Glyzinien über dem Eingang dufteten und der angrenzende Kastanienhain war eine Pracht. Der Pool war Mitte April hingegen noch etwas zu kühl.
Getting around
Ohne Auto kann ich mir die Erkundung dieser Gegend nur schwer vorstellen. Am besten ein Cabrio für genussvolle Fahrten zu den Örtchen auf den Hügeln.
