“Well rested in a great hotel”
Great hotel and location for very pleasant rest. All 3 generations in our party enjoyed the few days spent at the Shangri-La's Rasa resort.
“Spoilt Rotten”
We were upgraded on our arrival (very good cross selling) to the Rasa Wing, that upgrade included use of the Rasa Wing Pool (no children) with free soft drinks all day, high tea every afternoon, free drinks and canapes at 6 p.m. and breakfast in the Rasa Wing (which we didn't use because it did not provide local food). The upgrade was worth the extras even if you didn't use them every day. The service was absolutley wonderful and the amenities excellent. We were looking for somewhere to relax and that was quiet. This is exactly what we got, however, we were also able to catch a schuttle bus to George Town and the Guerney Plaza when we wanted to get out and about which was free of charge. Also we had access to the night markets and local eateries for when we wanted to get out and eat non-hotel food and experience the local food.
“Very Relaxing”
Was a totally enjoyable and relaxing experiance. The rasa wing is totally worth it if you are not intending to leave the resort.
“the best resort to stay in at penang”
dont turn anymore .if u want to spent fabulous holiday at penang ,go straight to rasa sayang.everything is ok: service, comfort, cleanliness, buffet breackfast, location, and especially the gardens and the pools.lovely rasa sayang,u wouldnt leave it. staff is so helpful, activities so interesting ,and lunch at the pool bar is perfect and not expensive as u may think.location is unbeatable, except from georgetown.and penang is a very charming island .
“Will always book this hotel, can't wait to go back”
The service is excellent, staff is well trained and highly engaged. The maintenance of the gardens is very good. The plants and shrubs are beautiful, giving guests a totally relaxed and sense of well being. I like the evenings, where you could sip a drink, have some light food in front of the beach before going to have a good dinner. My husband and I have been going back frequently and look forward to our next holiday there.
“Great facilities - a bit far from town”
Great facilities. Although a shuttle to town a bit far. Spa was tremendous and grounds were gorgeous.
“Would NOT go back. Not what one would expect from Shangri-La and beach holidays”
There are two wings of the hotel. Rasa wing is renovated and more expensive, the Garden wing is run down, tired place, but cheaper. It is the best hotel in that area but certainly not as good as one expects from Shangri-La. Only public beach with a lot of illegal water motor activities. As a result the water is dirty and it's totally UNSAFE to go in. Forget about peace and quietness. You'll be listening to the engines running non-stop. Do NOT go there for beach holidays. Hotel staff is nice and friendly. Service is very good. The mix of guests during summer months is unusual. Lots of people from the Middle East. So even when the hotel is full you feel lonely at the bar or some other areas. Being a woman and wearing a bathing suit makes you feel a bit uncomfortable.
“Very nice facility - gaps in service level”
The facility is on a large plot of land and nicely maintained - probably the best location in the area. Service levels vary - some staff are very friendly and considerate (e.g. restaurant), others are a turn-off and need to work on friendliness (e.g. reception) or are too aggressively hunting for their commission (e.g. pool-side/beach services).
“Honeymoon in Penang”
What can I say? This hotel is absolutely awesome, you probably aware that the hotel has two wings, garden wing and rasa wing. If you are on honeymoon then be sure to book the rasa wing. We arrived at 15:00 hours, we had booked the room with a private garden, It was so beautiful. further on from the garden is the resorts garden, swimming pool and then further on is the public beach. The rasa wing pool is so quiet, unlike the garden wing pool which is very busy. The beach is a public beach and you do get alot of people coming to you offering services such as jet ski, parasailing, horse riding etc etc. On our first night the hotel staff gave us a honeymoon cake, and then the second night when we walked in there were petals on the bed, this made it extra special. There is lots to eat outside the hotel in the evening, the stalls are out and people are selling lots of stuff such as trainers, fake watches, fake handbags.... The staff are extremely helpful, we were due to check out at noon on our last day, they extended it for free until 3pm, then to 4pm, then we checked out and because our flight from penang was later in the evening they let us stay until after 5pm. At the last moment my wife's suitcase ripped, they even sewed that :) :) :) If you are in the rasa wing you can have breakfast in the spice restaurant or the other one which is exclusively for rasa wing guests, we preffered the spice one.
“Good for families”
Shangri La is an excellent family resort destination. I was not there with children but facilities seem well organized for them. Wish we had known about the adults only pool.
