“Very good”

Located on the northern beach of Penang within 5 min easy walk or Hard Rock courtesy bus to night markets and restaurants. All staff wanting to make your holiday special. Great pool between hotel and beach. Beach activites to buy are parasailing, jetski, tubes etc which are sold by locals without the pressure as with Thailand and Bali etc. Breakfast and meals very good at reasonable price but drinks a bit expensive. Would have no hesitation going back again.

“Good overall”

Mother and adult daughter in twin share room. Facilities good. Staff OK but sometimes limited English. Pool pleasant with range of places to sit/lie. Gym adequate but not well serviced/maintained. Free computers in business centre good - but opening hours erratic - at least usually open longer than advertised. Used free van service in evenings to transfer to the night market/food stalls. Breakfast included in fee, with huge range of food - breakfast open from 6am-11am so fitted in well with our schedule. Plenty of entertainment/music options in the hotel.

Area recommendations

Worth visiting Penang National Park - get the 101 or 102. We chose to walk to Monkey Beach and the lighthouse, then got a boat to Turtle Beach. Walked back from there. 5 hours walking in total. Canopy walkway was closed for maintenance so that limited our options. You could easily use boats for the whole trip if you're not into walking.

“The Best Hotel I've Ever Been To”

Upon arrival for our honeymoon, we were taken aback by the sheer design of the place. Excellent use of space, gorgeous decor and light usage. After a few days we felt truly at home here. The staff are second to none, using your first names and giving you advice on where to eat/go. ALL of the staff, in every single area, were fab. Room was beautiful. Lush view of the sea. Pool area was cleverly designed to incorporate sand into it. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough!!

Area recommendations

Georgetown is best for a bit of night life. Fridays and Saturdays, it gets going at about 10/11.

Getting around

Agree a price before you get in a taxi or on a bike. It is possible to barter them down though!

Outdoors or beach

Careful of this beach. The water isn't what you'd expect (it's unclean and has jellyfish when you swim further out)....although the cleanliness is probably equivalent to Cleethorpes beach!

“Penang's rockin' hotel”

I had a great stay at the Hard Rock. I usually stay at the Rasa Sayang, which is luxurious, but very quiet. This time I stayed at the Hard Rock and I loved it. It has a lot of energy, there are things going on all the time, and it is FUN. Most of all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The price was also very good for the quality of the hotel - great value for money and loads of fun.

Area recommendations

Batu Ferringhi - it's great fun at night - with superb food at the hawker stalls, lots of bars and restaurants, beaches and a nice relaxed vibe.

“Not your typical Hard Rock”

not your typical Hard Rock; this is a family hotel and is relative isolated and long cab rides from anything in Penang

“Beautiful jewel”

After leaving Singapore and arriving in Penang, it was a huge culture shock. Thankfully at the end of the long drive to the hotel, was found paradise. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was beautiful and clean, the view amazing, the pool divine. There wasn't a lot of people at the hotel and they tended to leave the pool around around 5pm leaving it to just us. Breakfast had many options to choose from with some items changing every other day. I was aware that Batu Ferringhi was a distance from the main part of Penang but it was a lot further than I thought. We had the hotel arrange for a driver for the day to take us around to see the sights for RM30 per hour (or A$10 per hour). We were obliged to visit his friends for 'special deals' but we didn't buy anything. I wouldn't necessarily recommend Penang but, if you do go, this is the place to stay.

“friendly staff and”

I found the broken safety box in my room, the staff changed it as soon as I told them, and they helped many times. I loved to spend the pool with water sliders!!! the room is also nice and clean. the location is little bit far from some spots to visit, but I could have good time and wanna stay there again!!! 部屋も広くてキレイだったし、プールはウォータースライダーも備えていて楽しかったです。スタッフも日本語を少し話せる方もいて、とても親しみやすく、問題があってもすぐ解決してくれました。観光スポットから離れているのが残念でしたが、全体的に満足しています。また機会があれば泊まりたい!!!
