I spent 3 relaxing days at Hotel Hesperia Isla Margarita, and it fitted my needs of somewhere just to unwind and enjoy the sun. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and did their best to resolve the fact that my booking had got lost in the system somehow. The bedroom was nice and big, and the bathroom was well laid out with doors separating the toilet and shower areas. Two downsides in the room were that: 1)the air conditioning did not respond to the thermostat, and the room therefore got too cold when the air conditioning was on 2) not enough towels were provided (2 large towels but only 1-2 small ones, depending on the day, for 2 people). The pool was large and nice, and the beach area was also pleasant. The cocktails in the lobby bar were great, and the barmen were friendly. The food was fine, although it may get a little repetitive if you stay for a longer period of time. The beachside restaurant was the most cozy and atmospheric, both for lunch and dinner, and for the "gourmet" dinner they were able to accomodate a request for a vegetarian meal. Don't bother with their "champagne" though, as it's not worth this name! The nightlife options at the hotel were limited, and I didn't see any sign of the supposedly offered evening shows. Overall, the hotel does not fit the bill for the 5-star rating that it claims for itself, but it's a good 3.5 star hotel as classified by Expedia.
