I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Most spoke some english. The restaurant had a friendly atmosphere and served vey enjoyable food. The continental breakfast consisted of a variety of good quality foods. Hams, cheeses, boiled eggs, yoghurts, juices, fresh and dried fruit, cereals, french bread, croissants, coffee etc. The room was on the small side but had everything necessary for a comfortable stay including wi-fi. The bathroom fittings were new and everything worked well. The hotel is situated vey close to an out of town shopping complex with a comprehensive range of outlets. There is also a car hire firm nearby. The hotel restaurant is not open for lunch or evening meals on the weekend except by prior arrangement.

Modern hotel in north Pau, one kilometre from the Chateau de Pau, two kilometres from the Vignoble du Juracon vineyards …More
We had never been to Pau and did not really know what to expect. We chose this hotel online and crossed our fingers. We were really happy with the results. This hotel is in a great location. We parked our car in the free parking lot, and did not drive it again until we checked out three days later. We could walk to everything we wanted to see. The Hotel Roncevaux is located right in the heart of the shopping and restaurant district. It offers a cozy bar at night, and breakfast in the morning, but it is so close to so many other restaurants we only sat at the hotel bar one night, and never did have breakfast there. Too many other options beckoned. The hotel is friendly, quiet, very comfortable, and very welcoming. The staff was great.
The rooms were larger than I expected, and the amenities were all the customary ones.

English-speaking staff were excellent when I was running late and missed the check in time, as they gave me perfect instructions over the phone.
Room was immaculate and a very good size, well maintained and laid out.
Location on edge of town made it easy to find, was well signposted too.
Breakfast was continental and decent, no restaurant attached so you'll need to head into town for some grub.
Newly renovated. Good clean basics. Super convenient for drivers. About a mile from downtown Pau, which is difficult to drive around. Free parking and easily reached from the expressway. Supermarket across the street.
