A Marvellous Time

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Pros: Position, facilities, character, but especially STAFF!
Cons: En-suite bathrooms.
Location: I have mobility problems so it was lovely to be in a hotel that was peaceful & comfortable but also very close th the centre of town & its amenities,
My wife & I have been to Le Touquet before & always enjoyed ourselves, but this was our first time staying at this particular hotel. The welcome we received was excellent and the attitude of the staff during our stay was delightful. It's almost being rude to criticise, but if I had to complain about one thing, it's the en-suite! At 6'4" I found the w.c. too low for comfort, especially when combined with the bathroom door handle which, for some unknown reason, was set about 12" lower than normal. It was a delightful change from many hotels that the lighting in the bathroom was excellent (no complaints from my wife on her ability to do her makeup) but I would also suggest that, at some time, an extractor fan is fitted above the shower to reduce condensation. However, as I said earlier, if this is the only complaint that I can make, I really am being extremely 'picky'!

Stay was very nice. Bathroom needs to be updated.

We enjoyed the stay but feel we should have been alerted to the motorbike rally taking place that weekend. Road closures meant we were encouraged to check out early. The fire alarm going off during the night did not help. We did not therefore manage to make full use of the spa facilities. The room was nice but the bathroom was old fashioned and the fittings were very dated. The hotel was quite expensive for the age of the fittings. I have stayed on other floors previously and the rooms were far superior.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: Location; comfort; quiet in our room;
Location: The saturday morning market is just wonderful.
A friend and I spend one night at the Westminster Hotel in Le Touquet. Its such a beautiful hotel. Very stylish. In a great location. Two minutes walk into town. Our room was large, comfortable, quiet and very clean. We didn't use the spa facilities or eat in the restaurant. But, will on our next visit. Staff were very helpful and our room was ready at check in which was at noon. Would definitely recommend this hote;.

Expensive way to experience fading glory

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Pros: Magnificent grandeur. Secure parking.
Cons: The bathroom needed redecorating and updating. The reception staff need a course in public (guest) relations.
Location: Not relevant to our stay
We chose this illustrious hotel hoping for some old world charm but also out of practicality as we needed a late check-in and secure parking. The Westminster is an imposing building with a magnificent entrance lobby and tasteful bar, restaurant and lounge and a wonderfully restored original lift system. Unfortunately, the ambience of the main public areas didn't extend to the bedroom and especially to the tired and overworked bathroom which was very disappointing. The hotel itself wasn't overpriced (in consideration of putting a tick against the experience of a night at the Westminster) unlike the extras, especially the breakfast which was expensive and served in a gloomy, voluminous room devoid of character. It didn't inspire. The overall disappointing experience was rounded off by an unnecessarily brusque (verging on downright rude) receptionist at check-out. If hotels like the Westminster are to survive and I hope they do, there is a need to improve the guest experience and at least ensure that staff contribute to that experience rather than destroy it!
