A quaint hotel in great location.

We have stayed at Hotel Particulier Richelieu before. It's great value, in a great location and the owner couldn't be more helpful. The hotel is undergoing a gradual renovation but that doesn't detract from its traditional French style. The room was warm, we had plenty of hot water and free WiFi is a bonus.

Very Central in Calais Nord. Nice park nearby.

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: It's location to town, ferries and train station. It's friendliness.
Location: The beach is within easy walking distance. They are cafes, brasseries and restaurants close by. The magnificent Town Hall is just over the bridge.
Benoit was a most gracious and accommodating host. Due to a physical ailment we had change rooms from one with a unique claw foot bathtub to one with a shower. This was done most cooperatively and expeditiously. We were given helpful information on train schedules which Benoit confirmed on the internet.

Excellent location in heart of Calais!

Owner was a bit late opening up but very pleasant. Hotel is next to a park in the centre only a couple of minutes walk from restaurants, bars etc. Ideal location. Currently undergoing redecoration. Breakfast excellent value. Would certainly stay again.

Günstiges Hotel fürs Warten auf die Fähre

Posted 15-Sep-2014

Excellent overnight stay-good value for money

Hotel Owner was as helpful as he could be. The hotel is being restored. Our room was simple and charming. Bathroom shower could do with new caulking-not appealing to take a shower. Breakfast was an additional charge, and was very good. Located just one block to center of town.

Sleeping on a building site

Very dissapointing. We have stayed in some beautiful hotels in France that actually look in real life as they do in the photos. The photo showing park was deceptive as the area and hotel were very run down. Will not stay here again.

Benoit is great. The hotel is OK to good.

Pros: Convenient, clean and welcoming at a fair price. And Benoit.
Cons: Get the decoration done and put in a shower curtain.
Location: The location is excellent. 5 mins drive from the ferry. 1 minute walk from the bars and restaurants. 10 mins walk from the beach.
Benoit was a very pleasant and helpful host. The hotel itself is being renovated apparently. Our room was big but basic but clean and warm. The bathroom, and this was our only 'niggle', was a bathroom. It had a shower attached to the bath but no shower curtain or cubicle; if you showered you either had to sit or squat to do so; or stand up and the water went everywhere! That said it's 50 yards from the café's and bars and restaurant's of the main drag. It does breakfast if you want breakfast. It has secure parking which I'd recommend; as when we were booking in our car was 'inspected' by four gentlemen who'd noticed our 'foreign' number plate! The price was good for what we had: convenient, clean and welcoming.

Happy in Calais

Benoit is the most gracious innkeeper we have seen in a long time. The breakfast was wonderful and he was always available. The hotel in undergoing renovations, which we did not know prior to booking, so the halls and stairs are not attractive, but considering the innkeeper is doing it all himself, it is easily overlooked. the rooms were decorated nicely with very comfortable beds. Very convenient location right across from park with easy access to everything in the town.
